Explore and photograph Oaxaca and
nearby sites
All workshop are geared toward amateur
and serious digital photographers, and
include an overview of  your images in
order to realize a photographic project.
Join Alex Coghe Photo Expedition in
Oaxaca during the Guelaguetza
celebration in July. Guelaguetza—a
Zapotec word signifying “offering”—was
the term used for the annual ceremony
and celebration by which the pre-
Hispanic inhabitants of Oaxaca thanked
the gods for sufficient rain and a bountiful
harvest.
During this photographic week,
participants will witness the Guelaguetza
celebrations in Oaxaca where we can
photograph the dancers and the several
events related.
Each day we will review the previous day’s
images. Our Photo Expedition will show
the way of work of the photojournalist
and street photographer Alex Coghe and
the participants will have the opportunity
to work together in order to realize a
documentary work that will be published
in a printed book distributed worldwide.

A HUMAN EXPERIENCE
This Photo Expedition also includes
discussions and demonstrations of digital
camera settings, accurate metering and
exposure, the rules of composition, the
secrets to approach strangers and getting
close to make high impact visual pictures
and a creative use of light. Other
important topics explored in this digital
photography workshop will be the
editing, the selection and sequencing, the
story development. This photographic
week was designed to offer its
participants a true photographic
experience to become better
photographers and visual storytellers,
working to a real project and getting
international exposure thanks to the
publication in the book.
The journey to Mexico’s magical city of
Oaxaca with Alex Coghe is focused on
capturing the rich culture and the variety
of identities of the region. We will stay in
a hotel, at 1 block from the Zócalo, in this
way we will be close where the main
events will be. This workshop includes
excursions to ancient Monte Albán, the
traditional Zapotec village of Teotitlán del
Valle, Ocotlán’s sprawling market, Mitla, el
arbol del Tule, Hierve el Agua.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM
THIS WORKSHOP
This is not a tour: this is an intense
photography workshop with several
shoots, including daily feedback, with
critiques focused to make you a better
photographer and getting able you
discover your vision and to produce
stunning images for your portfolio and
photographic growth. The participants
will be asked to develop their own story,
through the previous discussions and
feedbacks with Alex.
Alex will always be by your side,
disseminating advice and following you in
the creation of your visual story. Alex will
also be busy making a coverage for the
agencies and for Fujifilm Mexico, and this
is an opportunity to see how a
photojournalist works closely.
Thanks to be with a photojournalist you
will access to some places and situations
YOU WILL EXPERIENCE not covered by others, and this is another
great advantage of this experience.
