This document provides instructions for modifying a BOSS CE-3 modulation pedal. The modification involves replacing several capacitors and one resistor to change the tone and character of the effect. Additionally, instructions are given to replace another resistor to boost volume if it drops after the initial changes. A photo is included to show what the circuit board should look like after completing all the specified modifications.

REMOVE THE 4 SCREWS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE PEDAL. THEN GENTLY
PULL THE BOARD DOWN FROM THE BOTTOM UNTIL IT LOOKS LIKE THE PHOTO BELOW.
1. CHANGE CAPS MARKED A TO 1UF FILM CAPS (3 TOTAL)
2. CHANGE CAP MARKED B TO .47UF FILM CAP. 3. CHANGE CAP MARKED C TO 81PF SILVER MICA CAP. 4. CHANGE RESISTOR E TO THE 470K METAL FILM RESISTOR (YELLOW, PURPLE, BLACK, ORANGE, BROWN) IT IS THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE LETTER E, DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE 2 GREEN CAPACITORS. 5. SOME PEOPLE NOTICE A VOLUME DROP. IF YOU WANT TO FIX THAT, REPLACE R18 WITH THE 249K RESISTOR. R18 IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE BLACK TRANSISTORS BY MARKER “B”. IT IS 180K (BROWN, GREY, YELLOW, GOLD). 6. To convert the pedal to use a PSA 9v adaptor, pull D1 and R1 ( can be 220, 390, or 470 ohm) in the top right corner of the pedal and install jumpers there.
