More than 3000 tanks have been

erected using our Hydraulic Jacking System / Equipments in the following industries :
Oil refineries, petrochemical plants, fertiliser plants, power generating stations,
petroleum product installations & depots bulk liquid storage terminals at ports. The
largest diameter tank erected using our jacking equipmentswas a 92 metre diameter
tank and the heaviest tank was one weighing 1900 tons.
HYDRAULIC JACKING SYSTEM / EQUIPMENTS CAN BE
USED FOR

* Building of field erected storage tanks

* Increase in tank capacity by adding shell rings or courses

* Dismantling of old tanks

* Repair or replacement of tank bottom plate

* Repair to tank foundation

Safety First
Erecting a storage tank using Hydraulic Jacking Systems / Equipments is the safest
way. Most work is done at ground level reducing risks of accidents. There is not a single
reported mishap in the last 20 years which goes to prove its credibility in being the
safest and most preferred method for storage tank construction, discarding the need for
a tall boom crane

No Scaffolding Required
More than 300 tanks have been erected using our Hydraulic Jacking Systems /
Equipments in the following industries : Oil refineries, petrochemical plants, fertiliser
plants, power generating stations, petroleum product installations & depots bulk liquid
storage terminals at ports. The largest diameter tank erected using our Hydraulic
Jacking Systems / Equipments was a 92 metre diameter tank and the heaviest tank was
one weighing 1900 tons.
Easier Inspection
Welding inspectors can now conduct ultrasonic or other non-destructive tests on welds
at ground level, facilitating ease of inspection and hence better quality control. No more
climbing up to precarious positions for welding inspectors !

Tank Erection Top Downwards Cuts

Construction Time and Cost
Considerably
* No crane required
* Faster erection
* Lesser manpower required

Cost of the Hydraulic Jacking Systems / Equipments can be recovered after

constructing 3 to 4 storage tanks or by erecting about 1200 tons of tankage. Hydraulic
Jacking Systems / Equipments cost is around USD 50 per ton for 1200 tons. Example :
Tank of 30 m diameter weighing about 300 tons needs 30 jacks of 12 ton each. Full cost
of Hydraulic Jacking System / Equipment is recovered in 4 such tanks.

Hydraulic Jacking system is the

safest way to erect or lift tanks.
The jack is a fail-safe device. Even in the event of hydraulic seal, the mechanical grip
jaws prevent the jack from moving downwards and will hold the jack at the same
position on the trestle rod. In case of a hose rupture during lifting, lifting should be
stopped and the hose replaced. The jacks do not slip downwards with the load even if
the hose bursts. Prior to dispatch, each jack is load tested at 1.5 times its rated capacity
and kept under load for 3 to 5 minutes. On customer request, the load test can be
witnessed by a Third Party Inspection agency like Bureau Veritas, SGS, Germanischer
Lloyd or the like. Each jack has two pairs of case hardened grip jaws made of special
grade of steel. At any given point of time, either one of the pairs is engaged or locked.
During lifting both the pairs are in "locked" position. In this position, the jack can move
only upwards. Remove any unsuitable material and replace with suitable fill, then
thoroughly compact fill inside the concrete ring or crushed stone ringwall, and lay a
layer of minimum 75 mm thick compacted, clean sand above the fill, as per Figures B-1
and B-2 on Pages B-3 and B-4 of API 650 (See below). The bearing pressure below the
trestle base plate above the tank bottom plate shall be minimum 1.45 N / mm2, else the
trestle base plate surface area shall be made larger.
Tank foundation details as per API -
650
On customer request, the stability of tank under jacking is checked by design calculation
considering the diameter, height, weight, and number of jacks used. The maximum safe
wind speed at which it is safe to jack up a tank is determined using these calculations.
During lifting of a tank using jacks, an oil cushion if formed since all jacks are connected
to each other hydraulically. This implies that no single jack will be subject to excessive
load. In the event of uneven lifting, which at any time can be to the maximum extent of
the stroke length of the jack, which is 100 mm, individual jacks can be shut off using a
stop cock valve to make any adjustments during lifting. On specific request, motors and
starters for powerpack are supplied with "CE" mark.
Caution Notes :
Load on hydraulic jacks SHALL NEVER EXCEED the safe working load. Arc spacing
between trestle SHALL NOT EXCEED 3.00 m, otherwise contact our Technical support.
If the ratio of Height to Diameter is more than 1, contact our Technical support. Safe
bearing capacity above the tank bottom plate (below the trestle base plate) shall be
minimum 1.45 N/mm2, otherwise contact Technical support. Overload or misuse of
Jacking equipment can cause PROPERTY DAMAGE, BODY INJURY OR DEATH.
Before selecting the type and number of jacks for any tank project, or before operating
the jacking equipment, read our instructions and this Safety section carefully, and
understand the information contained therein.
On-Site Support
A specialist can be deployed to site to train customer’s site personnel in the
commissioning and use of the hydraulic jacking equipment.
Stability Calculations
On customer request, the stability of tank under jacking is checked by design calculation
