1. INTRODUCTION
PT. Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL) plans to build gas pipeline from Jetty #3 Benoa to PLTG
Pesanggaran Indonesia Power. Gas transported is coming from LNG regasification plant
at Jetty #3 Benoa and will be utilized to provide fuel gas for PLTG Pesanggaran, which is
belong to PT Indonesia Power. This project will include construction of new pipeline from
Jetty #3 Benoa to PLTG Pesanggaran complete with metering station at PLTG
Pesanggaran.
2. SCOPE
PT Pelindo Energi Logistik plans to build a pipeline from Jetty #3 Benoa to PLTG
Pesanggaran Indonesia Power.
a. This Specification defines the minimum material requirement of pipes, fitting, flanges,
stud bolts & nuts, gaskets and valves for station in PEL.
b. Piping Speciality items shall comply with this specification and the requirements of
the piping speciality item datasheets.
c. Piping material required for sour gas service shall comply to NACE MR 0175 as
modified herein.
d. Piping shall be selected and used in accordance with Specification Piping Design
PEL-PIP-SPC-001 and the requirements of this specification.
e. This specification defines requirement of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and
inspection for each piping class.

5. PIPES
5.3 Nipples
All nipples shall be manufactured from pipe in accordance with this specification.
6. END ADAPTOR
6.1 General
End adaptors connected to equipment shall comply with the requirements of the relevant
equipment data sheet.
6.2 Flanges
a. End adaptors connected to equipment shall comply with the requirements of the
relevant equipment data sheet.
b. All material carbon content (%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM A 36.10.
c. Class 600 flanges and below shall be RF, except where specified otherwise on the
piping class data sheets or P & ID. Class 900 flanges and above shall be RTJ, except
for those connected to equipment (shall conform to equipment manufacturer).
d. Flange for firefighting application shall be FF (due to ductile iron valve for firefighting
application).
e. All carbon steel flange materials shall meet the requirements of ASTM A105.
f. Austenitic stainless steel flanges shall conform to ASTM A182 Grade F304 and the
relevant material requirements of this specification.
g. Flange materials shall comply with the relevant carbon, carbon equivalent, hardness
and requirement for pipe in accordance with this specification.
h. Pressure/Temperature ratings of flanges ½” NB through 24” NB are based on the
latest version of the ASME B16.5. Pressure/Temperature rating of flanged components
larger than 24” are based on ASME B16.47 Series B.
i. All flanges shall be supplied to ASME B16.5 dimensions for the specified flange rating.
j. Flange facings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5 for RF, FF and RTJ.
k. Flange gasket surface finishes shall be in accordance with ASME B46.1 and B16.5
and the following:
Class 150 RF up to class : Serrated finish, roughness between
600 RF Ra 3.2 and 6.3 m for spiral wound gasket
Class 150 FF : Serrated finish, roughness between
Ra 6.3 and 12.5 m for flat soft gasket

Class 900 and above RTJ : Roughness of gasket groove side wall less
than RA 1.6 m
l. Spades, spacers and blinds shall be in accordance with API std 590 and shall have
gasket contact surface finishes as for flanges.
m. Where flanges mating material is different face to face, insulation kit shall be applied to
avoid potential galvanic corrosion.
6.3 Welding Ends
b. Piping valve, fitting and special item material shall comply with the relevant carbon,
carbon equivalent, hardness and requirements for pipe in accordance with this
specification.
7. VALVES
a. Valves shall be selected according to the piping class in which they are installed as
specified in appendix.
b. Control valves and shutdown valves shall comply with the more stringent requirement
of this specification and the general instrument specification.
c. All material carbon content (%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM.
d. Valve body and trim materials shall meet the requirements of appendix.
e. All metallic valve material exposed to process fluids in sour service shall conform to
the hardness requirements of NACE MR 0175. CS valve components shall have a
maximum hardness of 248 HV10. Hardness testing shall be performed in accordance
with a CLIENT.
f. All non-metallic valve materials exposed to process fluids shall be suitable for the
relevant process conditions.
g. Valves are numbered in accordance with the document and equipment numbering
procedure.
8. PIPE FITTINGS
b. All material carbon content (%) and carbon equivalent refer to ASTM.
c. Carbon steel fittings shall meet the requirements of ASTM A234 Grade WPB or WPC
and ASTM A105N as applicable.
d. Where austenitic stainless steel is specified, they shall conform to ASTM A182 Grade
F304 or ASTM A403 Grade WP 304 as applicable and the material requirements
specified for piping in this specification.
e. Wrought and forged fitting materials shall comply with the relevant carbon, carbon
equivalent, hardness and requirements for pipe in accordance with this specification.
f. Fittings manufactured from seamless pipe shall be in accordance to ASME B31.3 and
requirements of this specification shall have computed bursting pressure at least
equals to the straight pipe from which they were manufactured.
g. Dimensions of metallic butt weld fittings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.9 with
socket weld and threaded fittings to ASME B16.11.
h. All pipe fittings shall be supplied with wall thickness and nominal sizes that meet
ASME B36.10M and B36.19M.
i. Fittings larger than 1-1/2” NB and swage nipples shall not be manufactured from bar
stock. Swage nipples shall be manufactured from pipe per the applicable material
class.
k. Screwed connection is not permitted to be used for class rating above #150 except for
size below 2”.
l. Where applicable for joint construction, SW/screwed for ASME #300 rating and below
shall be class 3000, ASME #600 rating and above shall be class 6000.

9. BOLTING
a. The steels used for the fabrication of the bolting shall be produced in a MARTIN
furnace, in an electric furnace, or by the basic oxygen process.
b. Stud bolts and nuts may be machined from treated steel rods. However, nuts may also
be forged.
d. All parts shall undergo thermal hardening treatment in accordance with the
requirements of the applicable codes and standards listed as reference documents.
e. Except as otherwise specified in the order, only bolting specified to standard ASTM
A320 shall undergo toughness tests.
f. Bolts and nuts material specification for carbon steel based material lines shall refer to
appendix. These requirements shall also amend bolts and nuts specification (which
was previously stated as ASTM A193 Grade B7 with nuts to ASTM A194 Grade 2H)
for all carbon steel.
g. Bolts and nuts material specification stainless steel based material lines shall be A320
Grade B8, with nut A194 Grade 8.
h. Studs of 1” diameter and smaller shall be UNC, with those 1-1/8” diameters and larger
being UN8 series.
i. Stud bolts shall be threaded along their entire length. The machining and surface-
condition tolerances applicable to the various threading shall conform with the
following class:
j. The diameters and lengths of stud bolts and Hex screws (“Heavy” series) shall comply
with the standards ASME B16.5 and ASME B18.2.1, except for stud bolts 1” diameter
and larger which shall be one diameter longer to accommodate hydraulic bolt
tensioner.

k. All stud bolts must be long enough to ensure that there are 2 full threads visible
outside the nuts after the bolts have been fully tightened. Above-water bolt extensions
beyond the nut shall be protected from corrosion by threaded metal caps.
l. All nuts shall be of the hexagonal type (“Heavy” series) and shall be in accordance
with the standard ASME B18.2.2.
10. GASKETS
Spiral wound gaskets shall be used for all flanged joints except for Ring type joints.
Spiral wound gaskets shall conform to the following:

Graphite filler & no asbestos material
Inner and outer (guide) rings stainless steel 316
Maximum gasket hardness in sour services is 248 HV10
Design to ASME B16.20
b. VENDOR shall ensure that appropriate certification, showing mill heat or batch
markings, is received for all furnished materials. Material furnished without
documentation is unacceptable.
