Vijeo XD™ configuration software
Vijeo XD HMI configuration software allows you to create and edit application
screens that control automation systems for Magelis™ GTU (Premium and Open
Boxes)/STO color/GTO terminals, and Magelis industrial PCs (Panel and Box).
Vijeo XD software features an intuitive and simple-to-use user interface, easy-to-
access functions and information, and a multi-platform working environment. It helps
reduce downtime and also shortens design time by reusing existing operations.

Presentation
The cross-platform Vijeo XD configuration software can be used to create HMI
applications that control automation systems for:
b Magelis GTU (Premium and Open Boxes)
b Magelis GTO
b Magelis STO (Color)
b Magelis industrial PCs (Panel and Box PCs)
b Windows compatible machines
Note: For Magelis XBTN/R/RT semi-graphic terminals, please refer to the Vijeo Designer Lite
configuration software. Magelis XBTG, XBTGT, XBTGK, and XBTGTW terminals are no longer
supported.

Vijeo XD supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and

Simplified Chinese and provides access to new application types. Users can view
their process instantly or after a delay, on the same screen as the HMI dialog. When
combined with a suitable terminal, this software offers a tailored solution for control
station requirements (after a simple reconfiguration).

Vijeo XD runs on any PC with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10

operating system. This supports WYSIWYG (1) of the developed application and the
PLC variables (I/O, internal bits and words), and also helps ensure that the
application runs securely on Magelis GTU/STO color/GTO terminals or Magelis
industrial PCs.

Configuration
Vijeo XD is an intuitive configuration software that is used to process HMI projects
quickly and easily using the 5 configurable windows:

4 Generic command or Document toolbar
5 Asset library

The software also offers a complete set of application management tools for:
b Recipe management (256 families of 256 groups of 256 recipes with up to 1,024

Graphics editor
The graphics editor offers interface consistency for simple and more sophisticated
objects. This helps application developers to easily create views based on:

Graphic objects library

The graphic objects library contains objects for efficiently organizing around the
business segments. Using the simple “drag and drop” method, vector images can be
positioned with the mouse on the mimic being created.

Key features
Trend graph
The trend graph displays the logged data in an easy-to-understand trend graph
form. The graph can be used to view the historical data of one or more specified
variables. VXD also displays error logs in graph form, making it easy to analyze the
causes.

User management
The User Management feature secures objects from unauthorized users by
requiring a valid user name and password to access them. The objects can be set
to level-based security where the user must have a security level equal to or greater
than the security level of the object. Password expiration and user account lockout
further improves security and prevents unintended operations.

Operation log
The operation log is used to save a log of operations on the panel. The log is useful
for troubleshooting purposes, for example for analyzing operations executed before
an error is detected. The log can also be used for a trend analysis of erroneous
operations.

Communication is established between the HMI application and the connected
control equipment using a communication protocol (driver) that is selected when
creating the application in Vijeo XD.
