Waitlist FAQs
Why was I placed on the waitlist?
We receive more applications from academically qualified
candidates than we can admit to fill our first-year class. However,
it’s impossible to predict how many admitted students will attend
each year. For this reason, we keep a waitlist of academically
competitive students who may be offered admission if we do not fill
our class. You are one of them!
How many students are on the waitlist?
Each year, that number varies. We usually do not place more than
10 percent of our applicant pool on the waitlist.
How many students are usually admitted from the waitlist?
It’s really difficult to predict, and each year is different! Over the
past several years, that number has ranged from zero to 100.
Is the waitlist ranked?
No. The admissions committee will reevaluate all waitlist
candidates who have chosen to remain on the waitlist. Selection
will be based on a variety of factors and will remain holistic
in nature.
When will I hear if I have been admitted from the waitlist?
There is no specific time frame; however, we will know if we are
going to admit additional students from the waitlist after May 1.
The process will be ongoing and we should conclude all review of
any waitlist admission in late July.
Would switching my major give me a better chance of admission?
As a general rule, switching majors will not change our decision.
However, if you want to change your major, please let us know
as soon as possible, as major choice may determine if you are
reviewed for admission if we do admit from the waitlist.
Will students admitted from the waitlist get on-campus housing?
Yes, on-campus housing will be available to all incoming
first-year students.

If admitted, will I be eligible for financial aid?
If we offer you admission from the waitlist, we will consider you for
all institutional aid as long as you have filed the CSS Profile and all
necessary financial aid forms on time.
If I’m ultimately not offered admission, can I apply again
as a transfer student?
Yes! Applicants who are not offered admission are eligible to apply
as transfer students in future terms. Please visit drexel.edu/
undergrad/apply/transfer to view our transfer requirements.
If I am admitted, will I be required to enroll?
Absolutely not! We will send you an offer of admission and a
financial aid award and allow you some time to make the decision.
Should I accept admission and enroll at another college or university?
Yes! We strongly encourage you to submit an enrollment deposit
at another school, as we cannot guarantee that we will admit
additional students.
What should I do now?
• Let us know if you want to remain on the waitlist by
accepting our waitlist offer.
• Explore all your other options and make sure you submit an
enrollment deposit elsewhere before the May 1 deadline.
• Send us any updates to your application, including any new
honors, grades, or accomplishments. You can send these to
enroll@drexel.edu.
