The European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE) is the European trade association

representing biopharmaceutical companies of all sizes operating in Europe. It is


headquartered in Brussels and operates as a specialised group of the European Federation
of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). EBE currently has 63 direct corporate
members and has become a strong voice for biopharmaceuticals in Europe. It is now looking

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The job we offer:


The Executive Director will report to, and interact with. the EBE Board of Directors as well as
the Director General of EFPIA. He/she will devise the EBE strategy, develop and implement
the annual business plans, oversee the running of the EBE secretariat and working parties,
and represent the industry towards the EU institutions and other key stakeholders in Europe
on a wide range of business, policy and regulatory issues.

The EBE Board wants to appoint a manager who is able to drive the agenda and identify
and maximise opportunities within a complex policy environment. At the operational level,
he/she will team up with colleagues at EBE/EFPIA and within member companies.

The successful candidate is likely to:


Have more than 10 years successful work experience at an appropriate level, including
minimum four years of people- and budget-management. Experience in the
pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries will be advantageous or, at a minimum,
excellent understanding of the industry’s issues with knowledge of the sector
stakeholders.
Demonstrate a successful track record in policy advocacy and/or representation to the
European institutions and agencies. Previous work with or inside trade associations will be
an advantage.
Be an excellent networker and communicator, able to “connect the dots”, forge
consensus when needed and present positions in a diplomatic manner.
Be perfectly fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of French and other
languages a plus. Relevant university education background at Masters level required.

service-minded and committed to delivering on business priorities. Communicating
effectively with politicians and civil servants, corporate executives, partners and third parties
like the media is an integral part of the function.
