These technical specifications are intended to define the basic project
requirements and the test and supply methods of power switchboards designed
for Group 2 medical locations, assembled and certified by the manufacturer itself.
To better manage the maintenance of the power switchboard and its components,
the manufacturer of the carpentry and the equipment installed inside must be iden-
tified unambiguously.
The devices installed in the switchboard are referred to the following product stan-
dards:
Item Standard
The standards and the regulations laid down by Italian legislation for the prevention
of accidents and the EU Directives must also be observed.
T ECHN I CA L SP ECI FI CAT I O NS OF S WITCHB OARD S FOR INSU LATED NET WOR K S ( IT-M ) 2 /11
Structure of floor-standing switchboard
The floor-standing switchboards are made of modular structures from the ArTu K
Series. The switchboards have slots that ensure adequate natural convection, useful
to dissipate the heat produced by the transformer during normal operation.

Main equipments
Insulation monitor
It must allow control of the power supply ground insulation and control of the
transformer thermal and electrical overload, as suggested by the installation
standards for medical locations (Standard IEC 60364-7-710).
If the measurement method adopted involves the use of a direct current sig-
nal, the latter must not exceed 1 mA.
It must allow high reliability of the measurement even in environments sub-
ject to excessive noise and high harmonics.
It must have a front LCD display that shows the exact value of the monitored
parameters, even below a value of 50 KΩ.
It must allow the alarm thresholds of all monitored parameters to be pro-
grammed according to the user’s needs, without the constraint of having to
use preset threshold levels.
It must have a changeover contact that switches in case of alarm.
It must include the ability to carry out periodic tests to verify that the device
is operating properly.
It must have a self-diagnostic system that automatically checks that the pro-
duct is wired properly.
It must also be possible to control the thermal and electrical overload of the
medical transformer by connecting two PT100 probes and a current transfor-
mer and by setting appropriate alarm thresholds.
It must be possible to control the alarms remotely by connecting up to four
remote signaling boards.
The insulation monitor must comply with the EN61557-8 / IEC 60364-7-710 /
CEI 64.8/7-710 V2 Standards

It must report the alarm signals of the insulation control devices in all rooms
powered by the switchboard.
It must produce a sound and light signal in case of alarm.
The type of alarm signaled (low insulation, thermal or electric overload) must
be recognizable.
It must be possible to exclude the sound signal without deactivating the op-
tical signal.
The muting of all panels functionally linked to the same insulation monitor
should preferably take place in a single maneuver.
It must have a TEST button for the periodic verification of its operating status
and a button to mute the sound signal.
Installation in standard three-module recessed boxes (E503).
It would be preferable to be able to allocate the same signaling panel alterna-
tively to the 230 V AC or the 24 V AC line signal.

Identification plates
All devices must be marked with an identification plate of the relevant circuit, fixed
on the switchboard at the position of the said device.
In addition, the code used in the circuit diagram must be indicated on each device.
The plates must be fixed with screws or adhesives. The identification plates for the
signaling and control devices must be affixed to the doors of the power switch-
board.
Similarly, adhesive plates must be affixed for the devices inside the compartments.
Each switchboard must have a specific diagram-holder pocket for storing all the
drawings - mandatorily updated to the as-built state - related to the functional and
power wiring diagrams.

Tests and certificates
Each switchboard must undergo the acceptance and inspection tests required by
the relevant CEI/IEC standards at the manufacturer’s plant.
The manufacturer must demonstrate that it has the ISO 9001 quality certification.
Both the Certificate of Compliance with the Standards and the Inspection Test Re-
port must be provided.
Copies of the documentation relating to the type tests required by the Standards in
force will be provided on request.
Installation methods
The installation methods must comply with the Manufacturer’s instructions and the
project specifications.
The power switchboard must be placed in a location that ensures full access to the
equipment in order to carry out the normal switching, monitoring and maintenance
operations and to replace any equipment damaged due to wear or failure.
Once assembled and placed at its location, the structure must be suitably fixed to
the floor, wall and/or supporting base. For installation, use, maintenance and dis-
posal of the switchboard. please refer to the manual which must accompany the
technical documentation attached to the power switchboard.
On-site verifications
The following checks must be carried out after the installation:
