Workshop Held under PCGT’s program KUCH AUR with Miss. Sapna

Yesterday we went to the world’s children trust for a workshop. We, as interns, were accompanied by 2
of our seniors members from PCGT. This workshop was held under the project ‘Kuch Aur’ which is for
the upliftment and education of poor children. Miss Sapna was our guest who was the patrogonist of
our successful workshop. The trust was also very supportive.

Our very first part of workshop was dedicated to teachers’ training programme in which we played some
games with state school teachers to make them know the basic principles they can use to teach children
so as to get 100% participation from children and also inculcate in them so as to give them a brighter
future.

Our first game was ‘grandma’s footsteps’ in which one of the teachers would act as grandmother and
others have to follow. Firstly we started this game on individual basis and then on a team basis. This
gave them an important lesson to them. On individual basis all the teachers just cared about themselves
so as to win the game but on a team basis they did an amazing job since they were not given time to
make any strategy but by just seeing the performance of each other they made their moves so as to
achieve their goal which shows team-spirit is quite necessary if you are doing anything in a team. No one
should be blamed when any team member in the course of action does any wrong. Rather than it should
be improved as soon as possible so as to achieve the goal.
Our second game was simple in which every person would be standing in different places with their eyes
closed. Miss sapna would touch one them who has to move 5 steps while everyone moving here and
there and then has to make a sound and act as if he is falling and others have to prevent him from falling
down. This game was to know whether the person falling down has trust on the nearby persons or
colleagues that they will save him. In real life a person has many problems and he tries to make sound
with his action or something else so that others can see the problem and help him find out a solution.
Sometimes a person can be shy or don’t know how to tell his colleague or friend his problem, then the
friend or colleague should check whether the person is in problem or not. The person in problem should
also trust his fellow friends or colleagues and share his problem with them and make adequate action or
sound so that they can know that you are in problem and help you out. Children should also be taught
this or make them enough comfortable so that he can share those problems with friends or teachers
which he cannot share with his parents.

Our last game was that all the teachers were put in 5 different teams and every team has to act in which
they have to show that some of them are not ready to do work and how do others make them work so
that there is no fight or problem at last and the work given to a group is successfully completed.

Now our next session was with children. We also played two games with small children.

The first game was to teach them discipline. 5 numbers were assigned some actions and miss sapna
would randomly call any number and they have to that related action. This told them they have to first
memorize which action is related to which number and then they have to be disciplined to do and stop
when the number is called or changed. This game also teaches them to perform their functions in
harmony with each other.

Next game was to completed a half story told by miss sapna. All the children were dividend in 4 or 5
groups. Every group/team had a different perspective to the end of the story still 2 of the groups
correctly ended up the story. This inculcated team-spirit in them.
Many children were quite creative. One of the girls recited a poetry written by her only on female
feticide. Some other children also performed different things which were quite amazing.

For me the workshop was perfect. One thing I noticed that at the starting of teachers’ training
programme some of the teachers were not looking interested and were not participating but as the
game started everyone was looking quite excited and ready to participate. So this can be considered in
other workshops or sessions.

I look forward for more workshops or sessions like this with miss Sapna and PCGT staff.
