Final Idea
I have decided to use my first idea for my final major project, this is the road
trip idea. Each individual in my video will have a personal problem that they
are dealing with. The audience will learn about these problems at the start of
the video as this is the reason behind them leaving. One will have recently
gone through a break up, one has problems going on at home and the other
is overwhelmed with work. They all want to escape their lives, even if it is just
for a little while. As a group they decide that they are going to go on a road
trip over the next few days. They all meet up and leave for their trip. The rest
of the video will consist of the group travelling, visiting different locations and
spending time together. I am planning on having different shots that show
cars travelling on different roads, and also footage of the group having fun in
the locations that they stop at. The video will start by showing the three
individuals, and their problems. One will be surrounded by work, one will be in
a dark room with ice cream etc. The friends will begin to text, and decide to
go on a road trip. The next day they all prepare for their trip and then they
get in the car and go. While on the trip they will stop in a few locations such
as the beach or a park/garden. In these locations the group will have fun
and relax while forgetting about their troubles. I will end the music video with
one of the characters putting pictures from the trip into a scrapbook, then as
they close the book the screen goes blank. I would like parts of my video to
have a "home video" feel to make it seem as though it has been filmed by
the group of friends.
Rules and Regulations
 Age category 0-12, film must be up to 3 minutes long (not
including credits).
 Age category 13-18, film must be up to 5 minutes long
(not including credits).
 Age category 19+, film must be up to 10 minutes long (not including
credits).
 At least one representative of the film must reside in the UK. The film
itself may have been made anywhere in the world.
 Films must be produced on low budget (under £500).
 All criteria must be met (outlines in the following pages) for you to pass
 You will work on the re-submissions after each section and NOT at the
end. As soon as a section is completed, there will be no going back to
it.
 Although all teachers are guiding you, you must always go to your
‘marking teacher’ for grades and written feedback (all teachers can
guide and feedback verbally during lessons however)
 For you to gain the highest grade possible you will be required to work
outside your 11 lessons and be in on Wednesday afternoons
 Resubmissions for each section may be done on Wednesdays so you
will be required to attend in order to pass / improve
 Group work is permitted but only as pairs (with extra rules for groups)
 A deadline is a deadline – you are marked on your professionalism so
late submissions will go against your grade
 You will sign ‘hand in’ forms so we can track who has kept to each
deadline
 You will be required to sign a letter of authenticity (to state all work is
your own)
 There can be no extensions as this work is submitted to the exam board
and if it is not there on deadline day they will fail it
 If you are filming off campus, the marking teacher must approve
BEFORE you are allowed to go and the filming days must match your
production schedule.
 Actors must be part of the course or have signed a declaration to say
they will be at the filming location – ‘no show actors’ will not be
allowed as an excuse
My Target Audience

The target audience for my production would be people

between the ages of 12 and 20. The main theme of my video
will be around friendship, so really any one can watch it but
what happens in the video will appeal more to people of a
younger age.
