Regular Black Coffee VS Civet (Luwak) Coffee

Coffee is the favorite drink of Indonesian people. Some people can't go through the
day without consuming a cup of coffee. Besides it is delicious, coffee also has many benefits
for the body. Indonesia is a coffee producing country. Many types of coffee are already
familiar among the community. Two of them there are Regular Black Coffee and Civet
coffee. Both types of coffee are equally popular in community. Although the two types of
coffee are the same as have many lovers, but regular black coffee and Civet coffee are
different. There are some differences in many areas between black coffee and civet coffee.

One of the most obvious differences in the processing process. With regular black
coffee, the processing begins by harvesting coffee beans directly from tree coffee, then,
separate the beans of fruit. While in civet coffee, the coffee beans are taken directly from the
civet faces that eat coffee fruit. After that, it is washed, dried and packed. In addition, the
process of fermentation of coffee beans from both types is different. In regular black coffee,
fermentation is done by saving in wooden containers and covered it with a wet burlap sack.
After that, it was left for 12 to 24 hours. In contrast, fermentation of civet coffee beans has
occurred in the civet's stomach.

Another difference between black coffee and civet coffee is the quality of the coffee
beans used. Actually civet coffee beans and regular black coffee are almost the same, usually
using robusta coffee beans or Arabica beans, but what distinguishes the two types of coffee is
the selection of coffee beans. Regular black coffee beans are chosen and sorted by humans or
machines, and even though the person is skilled or the machine used is very sophisticated, it
still cannot defeat the civet instinct. In choosing coffee beans, civet chooses coffee beans that
are truly mature and of the highest quality. In contrast, the quality of black coffee is not too
good. The quality of the seeds is mixed (good or bad quality mixed into one). So civet coffee
is superior to black coffee.

Based on the processing and selection of coffee beans. Certain the taste and aroma
produced by these two types of coffee is very different. Regular black coffee has a strong and
sharp taste. The coffee taste is bitterer. This coffee is perfect for people who don't like
sweetness. The aroma of coffee is strong and absorbs the brain. It is appropriate to
accompany the time to stay up late. Different from civet coffee, the taste not as sharp as black
coffee. Also, the aroma is more appetizing and thicker. So civet coffee is safely bounced.
Civet coffee is sweeter than black coffee because of its low protein content.

Even though civet coffee and black coffee are the best coffee in Indonesia, they both
have different prices. Civet coffee is far more expensive than regular black coffee, even
though black coffee has been processed into espresso or Americano coffee. The price of
regular black coffee is only around 100,000 per kg, while civet coffee can be sold at more
than 1,000,000 per kg due to the more complicated process and unique taste and rare coffee
beans.

In conclusion, Civet coffee and Black coffee are different. Although both types of
coffee have differences in many aspects such as complicated versus simple processing, also
the quality of coffee beans is the best versus low quality and the different taste of the two
types of coffee has, the difference in selling prices, but regular black coffee and civet coffee
are equally favored by coffee lovers. So depend on you, which is coffee do you like?
