The learning Strategies Implemented At Diploma Uco with adult learners

Introduction

Methodological strategies are resources that help teachers to face the challenges of teaching

environment and successful results, one challenge for instance, is considered by Brown when

says “teaching multiple and learning in the classroom because, they contribute to subject

understanding, class proficiency in the same class level” (p.197). Following with Brown

says “for most students, competencies will vary among the four skill, within each skill (e.g.,

in reading, lexical knowledge, meaning-seeking strategies, speed, efficiency, etc.), and by

context.”(p. 198). For that reason, strategies should be carefully selected taking into account

population, the context, learning styles and multiple intelligences in classroom. In addition,

the suitable selection of strategy is important because, students could be affected in positive

or negative way especially if, they are adult learners.

Likewise, adult English learning is become field of great interest in English as a

foreign language (EFL) to us as a pre service teacher. For that reason this research project is

created by pre service teachers from the Universidad Católica De Oriente, it which is a

systematization of experiences with qualitative approach. As a result of the interest generated

about the most effective methodological strategies are used to strengthen the learning

English as a foreign language (EFL) process from the voices the teachers, and adult students

is planted the research question ¿What are effective learning methodological strategies

implemented in the EFL process to adults in the Diploma at UCO?.

Hence, to solve this research question the study is carried out at Uco English as a

foreign language (EFL) Diploma of Universidad Católica De Oriente. English as a foreign


language (EFL) Diploma at Uco program is offered in the intensive, semi-intensive,

concentrate and virtual modalities, it is composed by 13 levels, student should be gotten

certified with minimum B2 according to Common European Framework . The Diploma is

aimed at all kind of population over 7 year old. In addition, to achieve the objective to

describe the most effective learning methodological strategies from teachers, and adult

students experiences in the diploma at Uco the information is collected through interviews,

non-participant observation and surveys from a population is taken a study sample. Thus,

the study sample is composed by 5 teachers, and 5 adult student learners by level in English

Diploma. The adults students are over 20 years old, and they should be registered between

5th and 13th level of Diploma.

Finally, the following section are presented context statement of the problem, Object

of study research question and objectives.


Likewise, the present study is a systematize of experiences with qualitative

this research project will help us to understand through the experiences collected which are
