 “New Media means of mass communication using digital technologies such as
the Internet.” New Media had been dominant in the whole world in expressing
our emotions, opinions, and stand. New media or Social Media change the way
people lived, it makes things easier and faster. It connects other people from
another place or local to global. Social Media creates another dimension beyond
reality and it becomes a tool for communication and an entertainment but there
are opportunities and challenges that New Media offers.

Students use New Media as a learning tool like google and other sites that offer
information and sources. It easier for us to look for the information needed and
we don’t need to go to libraries to scan pages, we can use our mobile devices that
has internet. Social networking sites like facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest,
creates individual profile with individual information to make friend. We can
connect to other people through instant messaging and sending emails between
each other, just signing in and just one click away. It makes us aware on what’s
happening in the world, local or global topics. We can share our emotions,
opinions about a certain topic. It helps us by means of entertainment. New
Media offers 3 dimensional environments for example, online games like
warcraft. We can use new media for an advertisement or to make profit. New
Media or Social Media is a great opportunity to express ourselves, connect to
other people and it is really helpful in terms of our studies.

There are limitations on using new media for example internet offers
informations and some of it are not verified and not all are right informations for
us to use. In Social networking sites offer fake news and we should be aware to
distinguish fake news. It may also affect in our studies because of too much using
social media and we forgot to do our duties in school and in our house because
we’re lazy enough to do the tasks and we just want to lie down on our bed and
scroll down. In our accounts in different sites, we don’t know if our informations
are safe, maybe it is but there are chances that just one status will put us in
danger.

So we must be aware in both positive and negative side of new media and we
should be wise enough to choose our choices.
