Happy Easter to you all from the Voice Team. Binham Priory (see front cover) is one of my very favourite places in Norfolk. It has a peaceful ambience about it and the ruins are truly wondrous, some apparently, defying gravity for many years. It was started in about 1130 and the decoration on the pillars and arches is a joy to behold. As the years and centuries passed, the newer building designs can be seen. By 1540 the east wall was extended upwards and a Tudor window added, so they really did try to keep up with modern technology! The Priory church is still used and one of the brass crosses just inside the door was in use in the Military Church in Tobruk during and after the Second World War. It is thought to have been made from shell cases used in the fighting around that port. How it came to be in Binham Priory, | don't know. But it is well worth a visit.
