Aims and Summary

This module defines the scope of international business and differentiates between domestic operations and business
in an international context. International business now touches the lives of everyone across the globe; therefore it is
important to understand the events, trends and forces that play a vital role in International Business.

The module is designed to help students recognize the dynamics of international business. World trade patterns and
the functions of international institutions will be examined. The business strategies used by organisations to achieve
their international objectives will be brought into the context of the global economic and political environment.
Influences in the international business environment will be assessed in relation to the formulation of global business
strategies.

Intended Module Learning Outcomes

The intended learning outcomes are that on completion of this module the student should be able to:

1. Identify and employ appropriate strategic frame works to evaluate the structures of global trade and international
business.

2. Critically evaluate the impact of socio-economic, political and legal environments on international business.

3. Explain and assess the operational strategies used in international business and the importance of these strategies
in global business development.

4. Analyse the differences between domestic and global business operations.

Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning will be in the form of Lectures, seminars/group discussions/video sessions, case study
analysis, experiential learning exercises, group projects and group presentations.
