Dear Sir/Madam,

IIPA is organizing one week training course on ‘Public-Private Partnerships for


Basic Services Delivery to the Urban Poor during November 22-26, 2010.

The Course has been sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty
Alleviation, Government of India. It is meant for senior officers of equivalent or higher
rank from the Urban Development Authorities, Municipal Corporations, Municialilties,
Local Self Government Departments, Slum Improvement Departments, Public Health
Enginering Departments, Town and Country Planning Departments, Improvement Trusts,
Transport Authorities and other organizations dealing with Urban Management and
Development of Urban Infrastructure Projects.

There is no course fee for participation in this course. However, the travel
expenses are to be met by the sponsoring organizations. Moderate boarding and
lodging facilities are available free of cost in the Institute’s hostel for this
programme.

It is requested that you may nominate one or two of your officials for participating
in this course. A nomination form is enclosed which may please be filled in sent to the
undersigned latest by November 10, 2010.

Training Programme on

OBJECTIVES

Broad objectives of the course are:

a} To analyze the problems affecting the urban poor’


b) To promote public private paratnerships for urban development;
c) To consider ways and means for harmonizing such partnerships;
d) To identify specific areas and understand various modes in which
PPPs could prove to be beneficial in the present day situation; and
e) To analyze isues in the process of PPPs

DURATION

The proposed training programme is residential for a period of five days


with free board and lodging in the Institute’s hostel located on the campus
itself.

CONTENTS

During the period of the proposed training program, the focus will be on
understanding dynamics involved in the project development and management,
various, measures for addressing the issues involved in the process of project
development, implementation, monitoring and ways to overcome it. The
participants will also be required to make presentations on various aspects okf
the subject to facilitate a better understanding of the issues.

METHODOLOGY

The programme would be conducted through lecture-discussion, Case


Stud9ies presentations. The lectures will be delivered by expert resource
persons in the respective areas. The session will be interactive; an exclusive
session will be devoted to the experiential sharing by the participants. This will
help participants to learn from each other’s experiences.
LEVEL OF PARTICIPANTS

The course is designed for Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners of


Municipal Corporations, senior and middle level officers from Urban
Development Authorities, Local Self Government Departments, Town and
Country Planning Departments, Authorities, Improvement Trusts, Transport
Authorities and other organizations dealing with Public Private Partnerships for
Urban Infrastructure Projects.

EXPENSES

There is no course fee for participation in the course. However,


the TA/DA are to be met by the sponsoring organization

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

The Institute has a hostel within the campus. Accommodation will be


made available on requisition. Board and lodging will be provided free of cost
by the Institute for the program. NO FAMILY ACCMMODATION IS
AVAILABLE IN THE HOSTEL.
