EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Federal Ministry of Transport is responsible for rail and marine transport and inter
modern co-ordination. The mandate, policies, programmes and budgets of the ministry
are implemented through the various agencies at the ministry which include Nigeria
Railway Nigeria Ports Authority, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency
(NIMASA), Nigeria Shippers Council, National Inland Waterways Authority, Nigeria

Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria and Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron.

This training proposal therefore provides a brief insight into the courses that will be
delivered. These programs are going to be very interactive and very practical. Facilitators
will provide a unique blend of policy frameworks and real life applications and challenges

to make the training very impactful on the participants.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, is committed to the
enthronement of global best practices in the provision of maritime services in Nigeria.
Our areas of focus include effective Maritime Safety Administration, Maritime Labour
Regulation, Marine Pollution Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, Cabotage
enforcement, Shipping Development and Ship Registration, Training and Certification of
Seafarers, and Maritime Capacity Development.

This training is designed to cut across every focal point of NIMASA as well as improving
both the effectiveness and efficiency of every participant.

The lessons contain clear explanations and many examples. The instructor evaluates the
activities and comments on skills learned and skills that still need polish, coaches you
through learning the skills, and certifies your competence.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the training, participants will;

PROFILE OF SOME OF OUR PRINCIPAL RESOURCE PERSONS

Oshadare Victor

Victor is a seasoned Consultant, experienced Trainer, and a life coach with 16


years cognate experience in Training & Consulting and over 2 decades of
banking experience. Victor holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Ahmadu Bello
University, Zaria, and an MBA from The University of Missouri, USA. A PhD student
in The University of Missouri, USA. Strategy and Organizational Development,
Harvard University. He has attended several courses within Nigeria and abroad
in different competencies most especially in Management, Audit, Accounting,
Leadership, Strategic Management, Strategy, Organizational Renewal, Forensic,
Risk Management / Actuarial Science and Banking.

He is a Consultant Lecturer and Faculty Member of several Training Institutions,


among them; Centre for Management Development, Institute of Operation
Management, National Institute of Marketing, Chartered Institute of Bankers of
Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Accountant, and many others. His Memberships
include; Institute of Forensic Accountants, Institute of Risk Management, Institute
of Management Consultants of Nigeria, National Institute of Marketing, Nigeria
Chartered Institute of Bankers, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria,
Institute of Personnel Management, Association of Information Scientist, USA;
and others. Mr. Oshadare is the recipient of a number of awards including the
Best Consultant Award, UT Group Ghana – 2010, Entrepreneurship Award – Spill
Magazine – 2015 as well as a Special Recognition by TBC Business Support on
Entrepreneurship Development in Nigeria.

Obiora Madu
A recipient of the 2014 NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY ORDER OF MERIT AWARD, Mr.
Madu has over 30 years of related working experience with international
corporate exposure in international trade, customs and maritime as well as
transport and logistics/supply chain management. My experience in training
and capacity building cuts across all the industries as has been shown in
activities too many to list. I have experience working with international agencies.
Obiora Madu is the only representative in Africa of the International Import-
Export Institute (IIEI) of Dunlap-Stone University, Glendale, Arizona, USA, and
attained the highest certification of the institute, Certified International Trade
Educator (CITE®) in 2004.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Export of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Supply
Chain Ghana, Institute of Logistics Management.
A seasoned resource person, I am on the faculty of the Chartered Institute of
Bankers (CIBN), Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), Nigerian Export Promotion
Council (NEPC) etc.
