Identification of needs of stakeholders

Stakeholder term referred to any individual, group of persons or company who may actively
involve in project or whose interests may be positively or negatively affected with result of the
project or activity performed by a project. Stakeholders may have varying level of responsibility
and authority over a project these responsibilities or authorities may change during life cycle of
project and ends up in closing project.

Different stakeholders may have different level of influence or involvement during project life
cycle ranges from occasional to frequent, stakeholders may have different expectation from
project which may cause sometime conflict between stakeholders, these conflicts should resolved
in favour of client or customers.
Stakeholder can be classify in two broader categories

Primary stakeholders

 Primary stakeholders are the people or groups that stand to be directly affected, either
positively or negatively, by an effort or the actions of an agency, institution, or
organization. In some cases, there are primary stakeholders on both sides of the equation, a
regulation that benefits one group may have a negative effect on another. A rent control
policy, for example, benefits tenants, but may hurt landlords.

Secondary stakeholders

 Secondary stakeholders are people or groups that are indirectly affected, either positively or
negatively, by an effort or the actions of an agency, institution, or organization. A program
to reduce domestic violence, for instance, could have a positive effect on emergency room
personnel by reducing the number of cases they see. It might require more training for police
to help them handle domestic violence calls in a different way. Both of these groups would
be secondary stakeholders.

Key stakeholders

 Key stakeholders, who might belong to either or neither of the first two groups, are those
who can have a positive or negative effect on an effort, or who are important within or to an
organization, agency, or institution engaged in an effort. The director of an organization
might be an obvious key stakeholder, but so might the line staff those who work directly with
participants who carry out the work of the effort. If they don’t believe in what they’re doing
or don’t do it well, it might as well not have begun. Other examples of key stakeholders
might be funders, elected or appointed government officials, heads of businesses, or clergy
and other community figures who wield a significant amount of influence.

Role of stakeholders
 The diverse group of stakeholders includes investors, employees, customers, vendors,
suppliers, communities, regulators and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Citi Hong
Kong periodically engages the key stakeholders to better understand their key concerns. They
conduct stakeholder engagement exercise to better understand how stakeholders feel about
the response to governance, environmental and social issues.

Suggested CSR Activities

Women Empowerment and Care for Senior Citizens

Women and senior citizens are one of the most marginalized and least empowered sections of
our society. The fight for equal right for women is far from won as there is still sever
discrimination and acts of violence against them in rural as well as urban parts of India. CITI
bank should employ a considerable amount of women in their offices as well as on the board of
directors. It can also open up certain institutions where women could be given training on
various skills such as stitching, handicrafts etc so that they are financially empowered.

Senior Citizens are integral parts of our population who are neglected across areas of policy and
at times do not receive the amenities they are entitled to. These sections of our population need
to be served with dignity and care so as to empower them to create an equal society. CITI bank
as part of their CSR activity can provide less interest loans to senior citizens and also can
establish old age homes in few areas as per their financial budget.
Healthcare and Sanitation

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages is one of the primary
sustainable development goals. Poor sanitation conditions and lack of availability of primary
healthcare facilities have increased vulnerability of rural population to high mortality rates,
susceptibility to diseases, increased school dropout rates among students, especially adolescent
girls and affects other areas of their lives. Making basic healthcare and sanitation conditions
available should thus be an area of key importance for CITI bank.

Skills & Livelihood Development

In the area of livelihood options and skills, there is a disconnect between the market needs and
human resources available. Improving these conditions is necessary to be able to harness human
resources of our nation to the best of its capabilities and capacity. The country’s strength in the
coming years lies in its man-power.

Sustainability & Environment

For development to be stable and inclusive, it is important to consider it within the scope of
environmental resources available. Environment and sustainability are the driving forces of good
business practices. Staying connected with environmental impact of businesses is a step towards
creating a sustainable future.

Poverty Alleviation

Contribute to poverty alleviation and to reduce inequalities faced by socially and economically
backward sections of the society through an integrated approach of interventions in the space of

empowerment by providing skills and livelihood assets which contribute to improvement in the
socio-economic status.

economically backward sections of the society, undertake financial literacy initiatives that
provide access to formal banking channels and products while facilitating access to Government
benefit schemes and social security schemes through banking channels.

some recreational facilities such as amusement parks for children and jogger’s park for adults.
They can also host certain programs for their own employees and their families for recreational
purposes such as celebrating festivals together, giving away gifts etc.

Community infrastructure development projects:

Minor constructions and renovations such as bus stands (waiting sheds), public parks, schools
and anganwadis, public toilets, water connections and public taps, public library, Construction of

harness human resources of our nation to the best of its capabilities and capacity. Updating the
skills and providing good tools to work with and providing better simulated environment to feel
the real work and give more realistic way of trainings.

Sustainability & Environment V/s Green for the green

products by celebrities and providing ads in the magazines. The proposed CSR practice, Women
Empowerment & Care for Senior Citizens suggesting that Senior Citizens are integral parts of
our population who are neglected across areas of policy and at times do not receive the amenities
they are entitled to. These sections of our population need to be served with dignity and care so
as to empower them to create an equal society. CITI bank as part of their CSR activity can
provide less interest loans to senior citizens and also can establish old age homes in few areas as
per their financial budget.

Healthcare and Sanitation V/s Better access to safe drinking water

The CSR practice of CITI bank, Better access to safe drinking water is good initiation in the
slums of Bengaluru but it is limited to particular area and the focus is on the Children and
Women. The Suggested CSR practice Healthcare and Sanitation focuses on safe drinking water
as well as the better sanitation facilities. Poor sanitation conditions and lack of availability of
primary healthcare facilities have increased vulnerability of rural population to high mortality
rates, susceptibility to diseases, increased school dropout rates among students, especially
adolescent girls and affects other areas of their lives. Making basic healthcare and sanitation
conditions available should thus be an area of key importance for CITI bank.

Janaagraha center for citizenship and democracy V/s Entrepreneurial culture and
Financial literacy and inclusion

The CSR practice of CITI bank under this program is partnering with Janaagraha Center for
Citizenship and Democracy to support the Swachhata mobile and web applications built by
Janaagraha which is an opportunity to become a part of Swachh Bharat. The suggested CSR is
also similar to the existing ones but the suggestion is to partnering with the start-ups in the
financial sector to provide the financial literacy and also to encourage the entrepreneurial culture,
undertake financial literacy initiatives that provide access to formal banking channels and
products while facilitating access to Government benefit schemes and social security schemes
through banking channels.

Child welfare, St. Jude India childcare centres and ADAPT V/s Welfare Programs,

the ADAPT centres at Mumbai and children included in mainstream schools in their vicinities by
ADAPT are provided with quality school education, treatment services and need based
continuum of support, in an enabling environment so that they can realize their fullest potential.

The proposed CSR practice suggests that in addition to the Children welfare the program can
also be diversified to support welfare programs for armed forces veterans, war widows and their
dependent children. Support victims of natural calamities and other disasters through relief and
