STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My name is Jawari Manish Kumar. I have completed my Bachelor of Technology in

the stream of Electronics and Communication Engineering from Vignana Bharathi Institute
of Technology which is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
JNTU is one of the top universities in India. I am planning to study higher education in
Central Queensland University, Australia. Now I am applying to Master of Information
Technology in CQU, Australia. First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me this
opportunity to introduce myself through this SOP.

Coming to my family, I am from a family of three, both of parents have business. My

parents are very loving & supporting in nature. Both of my parents are very hard working.
My mother is the source of inspiration and motivation. I had learned many things from them.
What I realized from them means whatever work we do; we should dedicate our self to that
work. Where I have bought very discipline atmosphere and where values & principles have
always been given priority. Thus, we are very well off family financially & emotionally.

Coming to my educational details, I have done my schooling from board of Secondary

education, Telangana and passed with 83% in the year 2012 and Intermediate from Board of
Intermediate Education, Telangana and passed with an aggregate of 79% in the year 2014.
After completion of my intermediate education, I took up bachelor’s education in Bachelor of
Technology and passed with 60% in 2018. During this tenure, I developed interest in the
Networking subjects such as “Wireless Networking”, “computer Networks” and others. With
this interest, after completion of the course.

Working with Network Enhancers industry as computer and network engineer was
exciting and I also received Yearly Best award. It was like an achievement for me for my
hard work and sincerity. As a Network engineer since 2014, I am working with a team of
young and enthusiastic team members. Major part of work is on trouble shooting and testing
analysis. During this tenure, I found that majority of our work is outsourced from other
countries and that I will need more knowledge in networking in order to grow in my field and
have a successful career. The knowledge acquired by me till now is very less and there is lot
to learn in this field and thus, felt the need of upgrading myself with higher education. When
I discussed the same with my parents they readily agreed to support me for my higher
education, as this will improve my skill set which is very much important in today’s world. I
happened to interact with my seniors, friends and they suggested me to do my higher
education from a foreign country as it will give in-depth knowledge in network field and will
give global exposure which will be an added advantage to my profile. This made me think of
higher education from a foreign university which has global recognition.

While doing research about the education systems in different countries. I have gone
through many online networking websites and enquired with many students who have done
their higher education in different countries. With this, I found that Australia and USA will
be the right options for my higher education. But, few of the universities in USA have been
blacklisted recently and heard that there are more in the list which will be blacklisted in the
near future. This has got me into fear as to choice of the university, because there is no clarity
on the universities which can be listed in the near future and I don’t want to be a victim of it.
With this, I did more research about Australia and its education system and during this, I
spoke to few of my friends who completed their masters in Australia. They suggested me that
Australia would be best place to pursue my masters as we get lot of international and
multicultural exposure. They gave me details about their experiences with their studies and
the kind of support they got from the universities during their education. Given the
importance to testing and troubleshooting, Networking is very much needed in modern
business. I have therefore decided to pursue my post graduation in Australia. I am highly
motivated and ambitious in pursuing master’s degree at your esteemed university and hope to
extend my vision and obtain knowledge which would enhance my skills further in the field of
computer and networking. I also came to know that Australia is one country where it provides
international students with a work visa of 2 years after completion of the course to gain some
relevant experience in Australian companies, but USA doesn’t have this option. This point
has attracted me more towards Australia for my higher education. Having international
experience is always advantageous and is highly rewarded in India, which made me choose
Australia over other countries for further education.

Once, finalized with Australia, I was to choose the destination for pursuing my
Master’s in information technology. I went through the university websites and found few
universities such as CQU, Latrobe, and Federation Universities to be offering the course of
my interest. Of these universities, I found CQU to be having the course structure which will
enhance my skills further and give the required knowledge to reach the career heights.

I did some further research about this university and found that CQU is having a great
history of providing good education since 1967. Before it was given university status in 1992,
it was called as Queensland Institute of Technology. It has the main campus at Rockhampton.
The environment of the universities is very good. Apart from this, it has 14 other campuses
such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Mackay, Townsville, Gladstone, Emerald and
others throughout Australia. Of these campuses, I choose Melbourne; it is the most livable
city, as it has the status of Business hub, as most of the companies are located in this place.
Melbourne is also the largest city in Australia, which has population from around the globe
with people speaking more than 120 languages. This will help us understand different
cultures which is very important in this globalised world. Also, when I compare the tuition
fees of CQU with other universities like Latrobe and ACU, it is having very affordable fees
of AUS$ 60510.72 for the course.

While going through the entry requirements of Master of information technology in

CQU, I found that I need to take English language test and prepared for the same and took
PTE test on 22 September 2018 and met the English language requirement. My scores are
Overall 60; with listening 57, reading 60, speaking 80 and writing 57.
 The course Master of information technology is of 2 years and it consists of 15 units
(11 core subjects, 4 electives) and a project which have to be completed within the 2 years.
The subjects which will be covered in this course are Information system analysis and design,
ICT services management, network routing and switching, database design and development,
advanced network security, information security management, network design, cloud
computing for smart applications and few others.

After completion of Master’s program, I wish to gain some relevant experience in

Australian companies before coming back to India, as we are provided with a work visa of 2
years after completion of the course. After returning back to India, I wish to work for one of
the leading multinational firms such as Deloitte, TCS, as Network administrator, network
engineer, capable of dealing with a broad range of people and companies. With this
International degree and experience gained in Australia, I will have a better edge over locally
trained engineers. I expect to have a long career in this field and benefit a wide range of
companies. In this way, I hope to add to the general development of my country’s economy
and become a leading professional in networking field.

I am convinced that Central Queensland University is the right place for my

academic career. Your eminent faculty, excellent research facilities, the courses offered is
very much likely to produce excellent results in my career development. CQU is a
confluence of people from varied culture, nationality, religion, race and ideology. I am sure
that my exposure to this kind of diverse influence would result in the overall development of
my personality and help me broaden my concept from the narrow confines of nationalism to
internationalism. I would therefore be very thankful if I am offered a beneficial association
with your esteemed university with full financial support.

My parents and family members are happy to support my interest to pursue my master
education in your esteemed university in Australia. We are totally aware of the financials
which will be incurred during my education and we think that spending the money in gaining
education will be the best investment one could do. My dad is into business earning around
Rs 8 to 9 Lakhs per annum. My father is having some savings, which I can use when required
for my education. I have also taken a mortgage loan of Rs 30 Lakhs on one of our property to
cover the expenses during my education in Australia.

I can do the same course in my home country, but with an international degree and
the knowledge which I will gain in Australia, I will get more preference over others who have
local education and exposure.

In conclusion, I would like to say that if granted admission into your University, I
would perform to the best of my abilities and hope to acquire skills that will help me realize
my dreams. People feel proud to be the part of this university. Finally I take this opportunity
