366 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. “When I visit God in Eucharistic
Adoration it is I who go to the Savior, in order to rest with Him awhile. How good it feels, how beneficial
for the weary mind to go aside a little from society….My soul would lose courage altogether and become
sick, and would be submerged in a sea of doubts, could I not visit my Savior and Comforter in the
Blessed Sacrament.” Msgr. William Reyna. Call today for your beneficial hour. We still have a vacant
hour Saturday midnight to 1:00am. Call Gene 330-690-9661 or Joie 330-745-6852.

Please check out our calendar of events at the website www.staugustinebarberton.org or you may
access our calendar on Google.

Our Lenten Almsgiving Projects this year will be supporting two worthy
causes. Our goal of $10,000 will be divided between Barberton Area
Community Ministries and the Soup Kitchen at First Presbyterian Church.
$9,000 will go to BACM and $1,000 to support the Soup Kitchen. Anything
over the goal will go toward the Soup Kitchen. Because of your generosity, as of
March 31, we have reached $3,882, please consider making a donation to help us
reach our goal.

When Jesus dies, Mary grieved alone. Most friends and followers had fled to safety except for a few
acquaintances. We have friends and neighbors who have lost a loved one and feel alone in the grief.
Resist the urge to avoid them. Even when we don’t know what to say, we can comfort the sorrowing by
just listening and compassionately being with them.

Time, Talent & Treasure

Pastor’s Formed Pick of the Week: “The Passion of Christ”
The Holy Shroud of Turin was called the greatest relic in Christendom by Pope St. John
Paul II. In fact, the shroud is the most studied scientific object in the entire World. Fr. Peffley
presents new, detailed scientific and medical evidence for the authenticity of the Holy Shroud.
This presentation brings greater clarity to the depth of the agony of our Lord’s sorrowful
Passion, which he voluntarily took on for the love of us. As we celebrate Palm Sunday and the
Triduum, especially, Good Friday, it is a worthy time to meditate and reflect on the “Passion” of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ’s Peace!
Fr. David Majikas

Join us for Bishop Robert Barron’s “The Mass” hosted by Deacon Robin Adair. The final session
is Wednesday, April 17 from 7-8:30 in the rectory. Walk through the Liturgy and be transformed
through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord. “The Mass” will
help you understand how to fully, consciously, and actively participate in the source and summit
of Christian Life. Consider making this part of your Lenten journey. For questions, contact
Deacon Adair at 330-283-4983.

All votive candles in the Church will be extinguished on Wednesday, April 17

through Sunday, April 21, in anticipation of the Resurrection of the Lord.

The three most Sacred Days: These are the three most important days of the entire
Christian Faith: Jesus’ death and resurrection. Make plans to begin the Triduum by
participating in the evening Mass of the Last Supper continuing through Good Friday and the
Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, culminating in the great Easter Vigil (which is to the Church year
what Sunday is to each week.)

HOLY THURSDAY SOLEMN PROCESSION – Again this year, we ask the Holy Hour adorers
and Eucharistic Ministers to participate in the Solemn Procession of Holy Thursday at the Mass of
the Lord’s Supper. Pews will be reserved for you (and your spouse) in front, on St. Joseph’s side of
the church. It has been gratifying to see so many participate in the procession each year. We
certainly hope you will be in attendance again on Holy Thursday for the very special and
meaningful liturgy.

On Good Friday our parish will take up the annual collection for the Holy Land. We ask you to be
generous. This is the most important source of support for Christians in the Holy Land. Good
Friday is also a day of abstinence from meat and a day of fast that is limited to a single full meal.
The law of abstinence binds all Catholics 14 years and older. The law of fasting binds all Catholics
from their 18th birthday until their 59th birthday.

Please note: Ushers and Lectors are needed for Holy Week. Schedules are posted in the sacristy for
lectors and in the vestibule for ushers. Please prayerfully consider volunteering and sign up as soon
as possible.

reopen for business on Tuesday, April 23. Happy Easter!

EASTER VIGIL RECEPTION: Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve, and clean up for the
celebration after the Easter Vigil Saturday, April 20. Food and monetary donations are also
requested: cheese & crackers, fruit, veggie trays, anything “Eastery.” To volunteer, please call
Denise at 330-745-0011. Many hands makes light work.

DIVORCE AND BEYOND - Now what do I do? Divorce is painful, often shattering. But it need not be
disastrous! Divorce and Beyond is a seminar for people who are separated, have filed for divorce, or are
already divorced. This seminar helps to examine what happens to most people going through the total
beak up of their marriage. These group sessions will begin on Tuesday, April 24 at St. Mary Church, 340
N. Main St, Hudson, OH, from 7:00 – 9:00pm in Room 106. Please register by calling Rose Gordyan,
Pastoral Associate at rgordyan@stmaryhudson.cc or 330.653.8118x227 or Mary Apicella, Co-Facilitator,
at creativemary2004@yahoo.com. In the meantime, May God Bless you and help you take the chance
to discover you are not alone in feeling not yourself and how to deal with this drastic change in your life

Attention Holy Hour captains. The next meeting to discuss details of the adorer dinner/picnic
will be Thursday, April 25 at 7pm in the rectory meeting room. We need both men and women
captains to attend. Thank you!

Grief & Loss Share Group - The April monthly share meeting will be held at St Francis de Sales Church in
the Upper Room on Thursday, April 25 from 7-8:30 pm. This is a free event open to all who are grieving a
loss of any kind, and will include a brief presentation, time for discussion/sharing and light refreshments.
Our topic will be “Grief after the loss of a child,” presented by Marie Stein, Board Certified Chaplain. The
monthly share meetings are being offered by the St. Francis de Sales Consolation Ministry, Queen of
Heaven’s Bereavement Ministry and Ellen Barber, Grief Specialist from Aseracare Hospice. For more
information or questions call/text Ellen at 330-801-0463 or Ann at 330-612-5234.

Beginning Divine Mercy Sunday, (April 28) we will be changing our Communion Rite posture to
reflect the original policy, first established in 2003. We will remain standing after the Lamb of
God, throughout the distribution and reception of Holy Communion and the singing of the
Communion Hymn, until the end of the distribution of Holy Communion. Once the last person
has received Holy Communion, and the Communion Hymn ends, we may kneel or sit for private
prayer.
Catholic Cemeteries -Sunday Support – Grief Support Meeting - You are graciously
invited to join us for an hour of sharing, listening, learning and healing along your
grief journey. No registration is needed, just come and join in. The next session at
Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron is April 28 beginning at 3:00pm. The topic for April will
be “No Eye Has Seen…Wonderful Things God has prepared for you.” For more
information, visit clecem.org/information/bereavement.aspx.

For those preparing to have a child baptized after Lent. One requirement is that the parents attend a
Pre-Baptism Class. The next class will be held on April 30 at Immaculate Conception Church 7:00pm.
Please call the rectory for reservations at 330-753-8429, session will be held in Hitch Hall.

FORMED – Have you had a chance to log into FORMED yet? All you have to do to get started
is type; staugustinebarberton.formed.org on your web browser. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact Denise Moore at 330-745-0011 x 113. God bless you on your spiritual
journey.

There is still time to sign up. Have you made your Confirmation yet? It is feasible
that some adults have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation for one reason or the
other. St. Augustine would like to invite adults who have not been confirmed to consider
doing so this year. Fr. Bill Browne is inviting all Catholic men and women who have
already been baptized, made your First Confession and have received your First Holy
Communion to work with him to get ready to be confirmed here at St. Augustine Church on
Sunday, June 2 at the 10:30 Mass. Preparation will be held in the Rectory, Thursday, May
2 and 16 beginning at 7:00pm. Please contact the rectory (330-745-0011) if you wish to be
