PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON ENDORSES MIKE ARCURI

First President to Visit Utica Since Kennedy

Local Band Nik and the Nice Guys Open for Rally

UTICA, NY—President Bill Clinton endorsed Congressman Michael Arcuri for re-election earlier this
evening. Speaking to a crowd of close to two-thousand supporters at a Get Out the Vote Rally at the
Stanley Theater in Utica, President Clinton urged voters to re-elect Arcuri because of his record of
delivering for Upstate New York. “I like Mike Arcuri. I really do like him. He’s done a good job for
you. He’s been good for the economy of Upstate New York…” President Clinton said, “I want you to go
out and tell the people who are not here, what this man’s credited with, how important he is to you, how
important he is to America, and how profoundly important it is that you vote on November 2nd and vote
to reelect Mike Arcuri.”

Congressman Arcuri introduced President Clinton and praised him for his leadership.

“It is such an honor and a privilege to have President Clinton here with us today,” Arcuri said, “because
he has vision. He led this country with the vision that he showed for what America could be.”

Congressman Arcuri also tackled Richard Hanna’s claim that the problem with America today is that
there’s too many people in the cart and not enough people pulling it, pointing out that the people in the
cart include disabled Americans, seniors, and veterans. “That’s not what’s wrong with America, that’s
what’s right with America. That’s our responsibility. So I say to Richard Hanna, if you don’t know how
to pull the cart, then get out of the way and let somebody who does know how to pull the cart—pull that
cart.”

The rally marked the first time a President has visited Utica since John F. Kennedy came to Utica during
the 1960 presidential campaign.

Local band, Nik and the Nice Guys entertained attendees for almost 90 minutes before the rally. Nik
and the Nice Guys is a high energy mainstream rock and roll band. The band’s popularity stems from its
previous role as the house band on ESPN’s “The Light Side of Sports.”

Several prominent local elected officials and candidates were also in attendance including Utica Mayor
David Roefaro, State Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito, Oneida County Clerk Sandy Deperno, State
Senate Candidate Mike Hennessy, and Oneida County Sherriff candidate Rob Maciol.

First elected to Congress in 2006, Congressman Arcuri has been working hard to deliver for the people
of Upstate New York. He secured $1 million dollars for the veteran’s clinic in Rome, he’s helping
businesses like Remington Arms and Nucor Steel save and create hundreds of good-paying jobs, he led
the fight to keep NYRI’s power lines out of our backyards, and he’s fighting to make sure our most
precious natural resource, our water, is protected from gas drilling.
