At FIL, we realize the need to

continuously innovate to
operate successfully in the ever
changing competitive global
environment.

Agriculture is a major
contributing factor to the
country¶s economic growth and
while India boasts of being a
major producer of a variety of
fruits and vegetables in the
world, a lot of produce is lost
due to lack of proper post
harvest management
techniques.
In our endeavour to bring such
infrastructure to the Indian
farmer, the Company has set
up the first atmospheric store of
the state of Jammu & Kashmir
with an integrated capacity of
3500 MT. The store is a first
step towards the setting up of a
well organized cold chain which
is a pre ± requisite to
guaranteeing the supply of high
quality and branded fruits and
vegetables to the market.
Our technology is at par with
the one used in controlled
atmosphere stores
internationally. The store in
Jammu & Kashmir has been set
up with technology from ICA,
ÔK who are pioneers in the field
of controlled atmosphere store
since 1937. The store has been
set up with the technical
expertise of David Bishop ±
Ônited Kingdom, who is a
renowned name in this field.

4 4
The benefit of a controlled
atmosphere store over a
conventional cold store is as
follows:
4 A firmer product

4 Longer display life

4 Less core flush, scald &

bitter pit

4 Decreased ethylene
production and ethylene
sensibility

4 Reduced decay sensibility

4 6.66

FIL diversified from ³Crop Protection´ to

³Crop Processing´ and the consumer
division was set up which is primarily
engaged in the manufacturing and export
of fruit juice concentrate.

The geographical advantage of the

location of our manufacturing unit in
Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir near the fruit
growing areas is the availability of a
diverse range of fruits, which further
helps us source the best quality fruits for
processing. This, together with the
modern state-of-art technology from
Austria installed in our manufacturing
unit has allowed us to reach the highest
quality standards. The manufacturing unit
in Srinagar is India¶s largest fruit juice
concentrate unit and the plant is well
equipped to manufacture concentrates for
fruits like apple, pears, cherry, apricot
and plum.

4 4
The plant is a hallmark of
technological excellence,
commissioned with state of
the art advanced machinery
procured from the best
sources worldwide. The
salient features of the plant
include:

4 A Bellmer double
wrinkle fruit press
from Germany with a
crushing capacity of
20 MT per hour.

4 India¶s first
Ôltrafiltration Plant
from PCI Membrane of
Ônited Kingdom.

4 A separate aroma

Schmidt Bretten of
Germany that extracts
the aroma of each
fruit in order to
restore the original
flavor to the end
product.

4 A 4 stage Schmidt

ensures the desired
degree of juice

Product Life Cycle means the changes in the sales volume of the product
over the life the product. In market there is always ups and downs are
present because this is a dynamic world. Every thing will have to finish
after certain time period, by finishing their life, so the life cycle of FIL is.

We define a product as anything that is capable of satisfying

customer needs. This definition includes both physical products e.g. Cars,
Washing machines, DVD players as well as services e.g. insurance,
banking, private health care. Business should manage their products
carefully over time to ensure that they deliver products that continue to
meet customer wants. The process of managing groups of brands and
product lines is called portfolio planning. The stages through which
individual products develop over time are called Product Life Cycle. The
classic product life cycle has four stages.

6(( ")
At the introduction stage market size and growth is slight. It is possible
that substantial research and development cost have been incurred in
getting the product to this stage. In addition, marketing costs may be
high in order to test the market, undergo launch promotion and set up
distribution channels. It is highly unlikely that companies will make profits
on products at the introduction stage. Products at this stage have to be
carefully monitored to ensure that they start to grow. Otherwise the best
option may be to withdraw or end the product.

#9 ")
The growth stage is characterized by rapid growth in sales and profits.
Profits arise due to an increase in output [economies of sales] and
possibly better prices. At this stage, it¶s cheaper for business to inset in
increasing their market share as well as enjoying the overall growth of the
market. Accordingly, significant promotional resources are traditionally
invested in products that are firmly in the growth stage. FIL introduction
stage is successfully done because it comes from the India market and
enters in international market

"& ")
The maturity stage is perhaps the most common stage; it is in this stage
that competition is most intense as companies fight to maintain their
market share. Here both marketing and finance becomes key activities.
Marketing spend has to be monitored carefully, since any significant
moves are likely to be copied by competitors. The maturity stage is the
time when most profit is earned by the market as a whole. Fil industries
have not yet entered in maturity stage.

4 4
( ")
In the decline stage the market is shrinking, reducing the overall amount
of profit that can be shared amongst the remaining competitors. At thus
stage great care has to be taken to manage the product carefully. It may
be possible to take out some prod uction cost, to transfer production to
cheaper facility, sell the product into other cheaper market. Care should
be taken to control the amount of stocks of the product. FIL is a brand
name and company is not in decline stage because their sale increases
day by day.

()

Price is the amount of money for which a product is offered in the market.
The amount of money charged for the product of services of sum of the
value that consumer exchange for the consumers exchange for the
benefits for having or using the product of services price is only which
brings revenue in the market, so it plays a tremendous role in the market.

") ()
There is to types of strategies present in marketing.
4 Market skimming price
4 Market penetration price

"' ',,() *

This is high price settings for a new product to skim maximum revenue
layer by layer from the segments willing to pay the high price the
company makes favor but more profitable sales marketer prefer to this
type of price strategies because there is every product that comes in the
market will have to go out from the market every product that comes in
the market will have to go out from the market every product have its
limited life and after spending certain period of time product leave from
the market like the computer software program that comes in the market
has the time period of 6 or 3 months in the past but now there is soft
ware programs that have limited life period of eighteen days, and after
eighteen days there strategy because there point of view is that product
have to go out from the market then they comes up with high prices to
earn profit that minimizes the cost that spends when it was made and
finally out of the market.

"' *("( *
Settings a low price for a new product in order to attract a large number
of buyers and large market shares. Companies also adopt this strategy
when they enter in the market. Fil industries limited also comes up with
the penetration strategy because it is an international market and they

4 4
just want to enter this market now this company enjoying the high profit
and continues in the product life cycle.

 " -8 ()

"
Now days companies pursue survival as there major objective of pricing
especially when they are plagued by intense competition and changing
consumer wants. Fil Industries Limited also tends to its Fruit Juices in
order to survive the tough competition Crop Processing Division. The
pricing of juices is not in the bands of Fil industries limited or any other
such company. The price of fruits is in the hands of the government.

"(("( ( *

The next objective of pricing is the maintenance of current profits. At the
moment Fil industries limited is the leader in Fruit and agro industry and
there for tends to maintain its profits through appropriate pricing.

 ;"& "9*

Fil Juices have been especially formulated to meet the demanding
requirements of a wide range of customers in most countries.

( () 9
Companies usually select the price of their products in accordance to the
following three: customer demand schedule, the cost function and
competitors price. However companies adopt various strategies in order
to price their products.

The strategies adopted by the FIL India ltd are:

1: Price of competitor¶s product

2: Price premium for high quality
3: Price premium for high purity
4: Price premium for better services

() * "

³Going price rate means that a company bases the price of its product in
accordance to the price offered by its competitors.´

") "'

A target market is the market segment which a particular product is

marketed to. It is often defined by age, gender socio-economic grouping.

4 4
Targeting strategies is the selection of the customers u wish to service.

It is the process of evaluating each market segment¶s attractiveness and
selecting one or more segments to enter. Market targeting depends upon
the financial positioning of company. If company is strong financially then
he must go for market targeting. Fil in India produces verities of products.
