Background

The teaching and learning process is structured around asking and answering
questions. In the delivery of instruction, teachers ask questions which students are
expected to answer, and students ask teachers questions in seeking clarification and
elaboration and in satisfying curiosity. Textbooks and other course materials include
numerous questions, either as part of the presentation of content or as a guide for
study and review. Furthermore, the assessment of student progress includes tests and
quizzes consisting of questions of various types. Therefore, the ability to understand, to
ask, and to answer questions in English is vital to educational success and later to
success on the job. TeachingLD.org (2007) presented several approaches to enhance
asking and answering questions about texts before, during and after they are read. This
is term as Question Answering Strategy or most commonly known as WH Question
Strategy. An English "wh-question" begins with a simple wh-
word, who, what, when, where, why, or how.

Name of Project
Journey to WH

Purpose
During my previous practicum, I found out that pupils had problem in using wh-questions
correctly. This application will be created as to help pupils learning to understand the rules of
using each question and use correct wh words through choosing the correct answer. There
is also some fun learning element where pupils can use the application to learn effectively
and learn WH Questions in a fun and engaging way.

Facilities to Be Used

The facilities that I am going to used are Scratch, YouTube and Google. Scratch is a free
programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive
stories and games. It has a lot of cute cartoons which can attract the students. It will be main
facility to be used in order to create the application. YouTube and Google will be used as
reference in crating application.

Objectives

The objectives of the project are to:

• Help pupils to understand the rules of using each WH question.

• Help pupils to use WH Questions correctly.
