(a) Explain the transfer moulding process with help of a neat
sketch. What are its advantages and disadvantages ?
(b) Describe creep failure of metals. With a neat sketch explain
the various stages of creep curve and their importance.
(c) What is the purpose of adding alloying elements ? Name
any five alloying elements alongwith the properties that
they improve.
(d) Briefly discuss various welding defects with help of neat
sketches and their remedies.
(e) Compare advantages and disadvantages of process layout
and product layout.

production and mass production on the basis of their
mechanism, advantages and disadvantages.
(b) What are the main sources of wood ? Differentiate between
hard and soft wood alongwith their applications.

compression moulding.
(b) Write short notes on any of the following :
