ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success and final outcome of this project required a lot of guidance and assistance
from many people and we are extremely fortunate to have got this all along the
completion of our project work. Whatever we have done is only due to such guidance
and assistance and we would not forget to thank them.

It is matter of great pleasure for us to submit the project report on “Online Social
Service System”, as a part of our curriculum.

First and foremost, we would like to thank to our principal Dr. S.K.
Narayankhedkar, for giving us an opportunity to do the project work. We would like
to thank our H.O.D Dr. K. V. Ramanand subject incharge Prof. Shivshankar
Bhutekar, for the valuable guidance and advice. He inspired us greatly to work in this
project. Her willingness to motivate us contributed tremendously to our project.

And last but not the least a special thanks goes to my team members, who helped me
to assemble the information and gave suggestions to complete our project.

CHAPTER-1
INTRODUCTION

Computers themselves have really come an enormous way since their initial
establishment, as the earliest electronic computers were so large that they would take
up the entire area of a room, while today some are so small that they can hardly be
seen at all. In today's world, computers play an incredibly large role in the way the
world exists in general, and the majority of tasks could actually not be completed
if not for the use of computers. Although there are certainly some areas and jobs that
cannot yet be completed solely by computers and which thus still require actual
manpower, for the most part, computers have helped to make life significantly easier,
productive, and more convenient for us all. E-Commerce has been around for quite a
few years now, but has really
only become prominent over the past year or so in particular.
Such e-commerce
offers an array of different advantages to the user, including: account balances and
history including year-to-date information,
theabilityto transfer money from one account to another and to payees for billpayment
s, check products and much more.

E-commerce is the activity of buying or selling of products on online services or over

the Internet. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile
commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet
marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI), inventory
management systems, and automated data collection systems.

PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM

The aim of this project is to develop an online social service system using e-
commerce with the following objectives:

•Create a book store that is easily accessible by customers from the comfort of their
colleges etc.
•Reduce the flow of human traffic and long queues at book shops.
•Promote efficient and effective book buying online store at cheap price.
IMPORTANCE OF THE SYSTEM

ONLINE SOCIAL SERVICE– HOW IS IT DIFFERENT?

Many students today are turning to the ease and convenience of ecommerce
websites to buy books and some educational stuff according to their needs and

7
financial capability. With the new levels of access made possible by the Internet,
people can now check various reading material with the click of a button. The history
of e-commerce has evolved from simply allowing students to check content online,
from the comfort of their own home!

WHY USE ONLINE SOCIAL SERVICE?

This site is for those willing to do online social service. This site will give them
platform to sell their books which may be like from past year and no use of them for
the seller. The price of these books will be low enough compared to original price and
these books in turn will be made available for students who have not enough money to
buy new books from store.

FEATURES OF ONLINE SOCIAL SERVICE

This site will make sure the authenticity of books listed for sale is maintained to
avoid student’s loss.
Also some items (like ED drawing instruments) which are of no use to most of
the students other than mechanical & civil branch will be made available for free but
only for those who are financially backward.
There would be a variety of payment options available to buyer like Paytm, Tez,
Netbanking etc

SCOPE OF THE SYSTEM

The scope of this project is limited to the engineering students, but in future will
be open up for other educational streams too.

TECHNOLOGY USED

o Language:-CSS3, HTML5, JAVASCRIPT

o Backend:-PHP, MYSQL

CHAPTER-2
Feasibility Study

Economically Feasibility:

The system being developed is economic with respect to Student’s point of

view. It is cost effective in the sense that has eliminated the paper work and additional
charges(third party usually takes) completely. The result obtained contains minimum
errors and are highly accurate as the data is required to proceed transactions.

Technical feasibility:

The technical requirement for the system is economic and it does not use
any other additional Hardware and software.

Behavioral Feasibility:

The system working is quite easy to use being responsive and user friendly
due to its simple but attractive interface. User requires no special training for operating
the website.

9
CHAPTER-3
Current System

At present there is no such social service site present which provides students
the books they require at low cost but not compromising with quality of books or
instruments they get. Also this is for help to those who want to sell their educational
stuff but also try to combine social service with it.

The present system just involves students buying new books and then after
their exam they either sell it or it just remains in their closet, so to bring a change to
this existing system and to give it a best alternative this OSS system development
idea was born.

The current systems also costs more than actual price or cost to student
because of involvement of third party. so to remove this additional cost we have
developed this system that wont have involvement of any third party which will
eventually lower the prices of items present.

The time consumption is one issue which the current system has so to face but
our system will just strike out this issue.

10
CHAPTER 4

Characteristics of the proposed system

• User Friendly:
The proposed system is user friendly because the retrieval and storing of data is
fast and data is maintained efficiently. Moreover the graphical user interface is
provided in the proposed system, which provides user to deal with the system very
easily.

• Payment e-receipt are easily generated:

E-receipts can be easily generated in the proposed system so user can
generate the e-receipt as per the requirement after session..

• No paper work:
The proposed system requires no paper work. All the data is feted into the
computer immediately. moreover work become very easy because there is no need to
keep data on papers.

• Computer operator control:

Computer operator control will be there so no chance of errors. Moreover storing
and retrieving of information is easy. So transactions can be done speedily and in time.

CHAPTER 7
Architecture of Purpose System

A data architecture should set data standards for all its data systems as a vision
or a model of the eventual interactions between those data systems. Essential to
realizing the target state, Data Architecture describes how data is processed, stored,
and utilized in an information system. It provides criteria for data processing
operations so as to make it possible to design data flows and also control the flow of
data in the system.
The data architecture is typically responsible for defining the target state,
aligning during development and then following up to ensure enhancements are done
in the spirit of the original blueprint.

FUTURE SCOPE OF PROJECT

 In future User can also be able to interact with the buyer/seller .

 Many other thing can be added in future for the both buyer and seller for one to
one communication
 We can run the entire system in any operating system and also we have an
android application of this entire system.

21
CONCLUSION
The Online social service system is developed using Php and MySql fully meets the
objectives of the system which it has been developed. The system has reached a steady
state where all bugs have been eliminated. The system is operated at a high level of
efficiency and all the teachers and user associated with the system understands its
advantage. The system solves the problem. It was intended to solve as requirement
specification.
