Hello Class!

If you have missed the previous class, I have given the instruction for our end of unit project. We have
working on furthering our understanding of the Number System with rational numbers and negative
numbers. Throughout the unit we have extend our understanding of the operations: addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division. The standards that are associated with these concepts are
MGSE7. NS. 1 and MGSE7. NS. 2. This project will be a summative assessment for the unit.

The project is a real-world application of a number line system. You will pick a career randomly: there
are 5 careers possibilities. Each career was a set pay check and debt associated with that career. For
example, the doctor will have more student loans than an electrician. For two weeks, you will research
what housing, bills and other expenses you will have in your life in this career. You will create an
expense budget and keep track of your expenses daily. Each day you attend class, you earn you pay
check for one week’s worth of pay. The project will be for two weeks. This is your opportunity to get
creative in what you want your life to be. If you want to have a house will 10 bedrooms you can try and
budget it, but you might have to go in debt for it. At the end of the two weeks you will turn in your
expenses. You create a presentation of the life you have created for yourself and show the expenses you
have done.

For students that missed class today, please begin researching housing options, bills, and other expenses
that you would like to think to incorporate into your budget for the project.
