The human body is like an engine and like all good engines , it requires
high quality fuels for it to work well. The fuels are found in the food we eat.
Therefore food is the thing we eat that will keep our body in good health. The
food we eat should provide us with growth and repair, heat and energy as well
as regulate our body functions.

Food can be divided into different classes according to the nutrients its
contents. The first of the classes is the body builder. This food builds up our
bodies and repairs it too. It is called protein . Proteins also provide our body
with energy.

The second class of food are energizers. They are called


carbohydrates and fats .The extra amounts of these foods can be changed
into body fat. That’s why we are not encouraged to eat too much
carbohydrates and fats.

The final class are foods are protectors. Protectors the form of
vitamins, mineral salts and water protect the body from infection and keep it
working properly . Roughage may be included in this class even though it is
not a true nutrient as it is not absorbed by the body but simply passes through
it. It helps the body to get rid of waste products.

A balanced diet must include foods from these three classes. This is to
make sure the body stays healthy and works properly. If a class of food is
missing, the body will suffer malnourishment which means the body is badly
nourished. The body is undernourished when it does not get enough of all the
three classes of foods.

Galau’s men collected and buried the bodies as fast as they could.
They found Umat among the dead, too.

“ He started all this ,”they said to each other. ”Galau will be glad to
hear that Umat is dead!”

But they were wrong. When Galau heard that his brother was dead,
he came to see where he lay, still unburied. He cried and mourned for him.

“ He was my brother and my father’s son,” he said. ”He was


younger than I am .I should have looked after him. I want you to make a
