12. Find the 2x2 matrix A such that (3𝐼3 − 2𝐴)−1 = [ ]
2 −1
0 1 0
13. Compute the inverse of 𝐴 = [ 1 1 2] by two ways:
−2 2 4
a) Reducing the augmented matrix [𝐴 𝐼3 ]
b) Using cofactors (Cramer’s rule).

14. Consider a famous TV program that is shown once a week. A person may view or not
view the program. Assume program managers provide the following information on the
viewers’ behavior: 90% of the viewers of a week will view the program next week and
80% of the people who did not view the program in a week will not view the program in
the next week. Consider the last week of March as the starting week and the
distribution of viewers is that 50% have viewed the program.
a) What will be the distribution of the viewers’ population in the first week of April?
b) What will happen to the program’s popularity in the long term?

15. Find the linear regression line for the data

(0,1), (1,3), (2,3), (3, 4), (4, 5), (5,6)
Make predictions for x = 8 and x= 10.

16. Consider a simple economy consisting of only two sectors: Manufacture (M) and
services (S). For each unit of its output, M requires in input 0.7 units from M and 0.2
units from S. For each unit of its output, S requires in input 0.3 units from M and 0.5
units from S. There is a final demand for 20 units from M and 10 units from S.

a) Construct the consumption matrix and final demand vector for this economy.
b) Use an inverse matrix to find the production levels needed to satisfy the total
demand.

17. Marrybeline is considering two advertising media to promote its new skin whitening
product, gorgeous which is planned to be launched in April. $ 7,200 budget has been
allocated for the product’s promotion per week. The company’s promotion and strategy
officer, Hanna found that each magazine ads and television ads will cost $ 400 and $ 600
respectively. She targets to have a total of at least 15 ads, with at least two of each type.
Normally, each magazines ad reaches 2,000 people, while a television ad reaches 6,000
viewers at one time. The company wishes to reach as many people as possible while
meeting all the constraints stated. How many ads of each type should be placed? Use
graphical solution method .

18. Solve the LP problem

2𝑥1 + 4𝑥2 + 6𝑥3 ≤ 18

2𝑥2 + 4𝑥3 ≤ 8

𝑥1 + 𝑥2 + 6𝑥3 ≤ 10
𝑥1 , 𝑥2 , 𝑥3 ≥ 0
