To reach the truth we should use multiple disciplines or dimensions such as science, history and
religion. Focusing on one discipline would bias the research. For solving this puzzle of Ancient
History and its duration we need to do out of the box thinking by putting our conventional belief aside
for the time being. If evolution sounds more rational to me then it does not mean that one should
ignore the historical and religious findings.
The challenge we face with history is that, as we move into the past, the chronology begins to fade
and we linger into darkness. What was before Mesopotamian, Egyptian or Aryan civilization?
Darkness or Light! To overcome this, many historians start taking refuge in evolutionary theory
although this theory is also a belief and not an established fact.
From a historic point of view human history is a few thousand years old and not millions or billions of
years. Even creationists will agree to this. Though they believe it to be 6000 years. However, there is a
common belief about millions and billions year among most geologists, palaeontologists,
anthropologists and archaeologists. This bias is due to the following presuppositions- The earth is
millions if not billions of years old.
This presuppositions prevent them from being objective when evaluating anything related to ancient
history, geology, archaeology, etc. So it's a humble request if we can try in a different way putting the
conventional beliefs aside. Let’s discuss from a historical viewpoint, leaving geological timeline
aside. Many references can be shown to support this but this will lead to unnecessary deviations from
our main topic.
1. The dated history of no country goes back to such a remote past. The Oxford and Cambridge
histories of India do not take us beyond the fifth or sixth century B.C. As a matter of fact the
history of no other country can be tracked beyond circa 1000.BC on the basis of written
records with the doubtful exception of Egypt and Babylon ,but even the only the western
scholar have come with spades and the local scholars are silent.(Dr D. S Trivedi –Indian
Chronology Introduction page )
2. As per majority of Historians the general belief is that -Lord Krishna came 5000 years ago
and Lord Rama 7000 years ago and not millions of years ago.
3. All the Indian calendars do not go far beyond few thousand years and not millions of years
ago.
Many references can be shown to support this viewpoint that human history is not millions
years old
The is no doubt that our Indian civilization has produced brilliant astronomer and mathematician
like Aryabhatta ,Varahamihir and Brahmagupta who did excellent research in those days without any
modern tools. According to the Aryabhatta the Kali Yuga started in 3102 BC. Which is different from
that of Varahamihir .The wonder is that, even they were not sure and had difference of opinion
regarding the dates of Mahabharata. Sometimes we find them criticizing each other for instance
Brahmagupta criticizing Aryabhatta.
It is generally believed that Aryabhatta had calculated the start date of the Kali Yuga on the basis of
the information in the Sanskrit astronomical treatise, the Surya Siddhanta, according to which the five
planets visible to the naked eye - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - were aligned to 0° of
Aries at the beginning of the Kali Yuga. He, thus, arrived at the date of 17/18 February, 3102 BC as
the starting point of the Kali Yuga.
However, modern simulations carried out by Richard Thompson show that on 17/18
February, 3102 BC, the five geocentric planets occupied an arc of roughly 42° in the sky and were
scattered over three zodiacal signs – Aries, Pisces and Aquarius. This cannot be considered as a
conjunction by any means. In other words, the conjunction of geocentric planets at 0° of Aries
that was supposedly targeted by Aryabhatta did not take place in 3102 BC.
The biggest blunder of India astronomy is the concept of divine year “divya varsha”.
“In Alexander’s time the Hindu did not claim a greater antiquity than B.C 6777.I have therefore a
very. Strong suspicions that the present extravagant system of Yugas and Mahayugs, Manvantaras, and
Kalpa , was an invention of the astronomers, which they based on their newly-acquired knowledge of
the precession”.(Book of Indian Eras: With Tables for Calculating Indian Dates (1883) )
If we drop the theory of divine year and the progressive ration of yuga. The the age of history
will come down to 5000 years only.
These rock and pillar inscriptions of the Buddhist king Asoka, who ruled India from 259 B.C. to 222
B.C. date from the middle of the third century B.C.Scholars have always faced the problem of
determining the date of the entire Indian literatures which were pre-Buddhist. Not only the Vedic, but
also a major part of the other Indian literature which is known as classical literature, have no definite
date of production. Even the dates of many Sanskrit authors are known approximately. For instance,
the date of the famous Sanskrit author Kalidasa remains uncertain till date.
No Historians at same page as far as the date of Rigvedic Period is concerned and there is a vast
difference. From external evidence it is found that the earliest hymns in theRigveda must have been
composed by c. 1500 BCE.( Witzel,Michael, “Early Indian history: linguistic and textual parameters,” in:
George
Erdosy, ed., The Indo-Aryans of Ancient South Asia: Language, Material Culture and Ethnicity,
de Gruyter, Berlin, 1995, p. 98)
To quote Max Muller (1898): “Whether the Vedic hymns were composed 1,000, or 1,500, or 2,000, or
3,000 years BC, no power on earth will ever determine” ”( Müller, Max, Physical Religion, Gifford lectures,
new edition, 1898, p. 91; Winternitz,M., A History of Indian Literature, Vol. I, Calcutta, 1927, p. 293; Winternitz,
M., Some Problems of Indian Literature, Bharatiya Book Corporation, Delhi, reprint 1977, p. 5.)
The author’s viewpoint is that if we study the evolution of different languages we and do fare
estimation keeping various dimension in mind Rigvedic period should be somewhere around 700
BC to 800 BC.
It is well know that we don’t have any archaeological evidences of the Ramayana and the
Mahabharata by now. The Indus Valley civilization was strictly Bronze Age and had nothing to do
with the epics. The Gulf of Khambhat has been officially dismissed by the Govt. of India, and their
funding revoked and research erased. The isthmus/sand bar dubbed "Ram setu" is 100% a natural
formation as reported by Archaeological Survey of India. The submerged part of Dwarka was a post-
Mauryan site. In fact all geographical locations associated with the epics are strictly post-Buddha and
largely Puranic)
The author’s viewpoint is that Mahabharata war did took place 5000 years ago i.e. 3000 B C. Many
things mentioned in Mahabharata are metaphorical and should be treated with care. That why we see
Bhandarkar (1933) who is convinced that the Mahabharata should not be regarded as a historical
work. But this is not the case. Much reference can be shown that the Mahabharata was in the form of
floating legends for many years( shruti). But the actual Book of the Mahabharata was compiled
somewhere around 300 t0 400 BC and the Interpolation continued for many centuries. The
Ramayan also met the same fate.
Winternitz (1927) concluded that the Mahabharata cannot have received its present form earlier than
the 4th century BC and not later than the 4th century AD.46
Note: The period 700 B.C to 300 B.C is shown as bhakti (worship) period in Copper Age where
religious leaders, rishis, sages and philosophers were bornRefer The Eternal World Drama-Part-2

let's take a brief overview of the two major catastrophic worldwide flood which took place in the 5000
year cycle of human history
These floods have been mentioned in almost all the religious scriptures of the world. The first flood
marked the starting of the Golden Age and the second flood wiped out the remains of the most
magnificent civilization of the Golden and Silver age, and the Paradise was lost. This is another
reason why we don’t find any remnant of the ancient deity-civilization. After this the Indus, Aryan,
Mesopotamian and Greek civilization started. The second flood has been referred to as the biblical or
Noah’s flood as believed by most creationists. Though in the story of Noah there are many things
which are metaphorical which we will see later.
As per as religious beliefs of India and the west, there were Golden and Silver Ages 5000 years ago
which lasted for 2500 years. Almost all the religious scriptures mention this era as Heaven, Garden of
Eden, Garden of Allah, Paradise or Atlantis. The sorrow and suffering starts from Copper Age
(Dwapuryuga) and continues till the end of Iron Age (Kaliyuga) .We are almost at the end of the cycle
i.e. the Confluence age (Sangamyuga or the Sandhikal) which is about to end.
The author believes the Biblical flood took place approximately 2700 or 2800 years ago.
