Intro to Aerospace HW 5

2)

 Pressure Altitude: This is the height of above a theoretical plane called the standard
datum plane where the atmosphere’s weight is 29.92”Hg. This is where flight
performance is determined good or not.
 Density Altitude: This is the altitude where the air density is the same as the air density at
the place of observation.
 Effect of Pressure on Density: The effects of pressure on density is a direct relationship
where if density is increased, pressure is increased and vice versa.
 Effect of Temperature on Density: Temperature effects density indirectly. Such as where
temperature increases then density decreases due to the energy from molecules lowering
in cold temperatures.
 Effect of Humidity (Moisture) on Density: Humidity also shares an indirect relationship
to density where if humidity is increased then density is decreased due to adding water
vapor to the air.
