The village is located
about 33 kilometers (21
miles) north of
Salzburg, 4 km from the
east of the German
border.

Despite having a population of just 104, this village’s name became famous in the
English-speaking world. Road signs here are the main attraction of visitors and
tourists, in fact it’s not rare that the signs being targeted to be stolen by the
tourists who happened to visit or pass through. The signs seem to be a souvenir-
hunting which is always interesting.
FACTS ABOUT THE PAST:

The village is believed to have been founded

since the 6th century by Focko, a Bavarian
nobleman. The existence of this village is
documented for the first time in 1070 and the
historical record shows that about twenty
years later, his full name is Adalpertus de
Fucingin. The spelling of this name has
evolved over the years. The first Spelling ever
recorded in historical sources was Vucchingen
in 1070, Fukching in 1303, Fugkhing in 1532,
and named Fucking with modern spelling in
the 18th century. Fucking said in a German
dialect means "(a) the Focko it". Though, if in
the English language will have bizarre and ridiculous meaning.

At the Austrian population census conducted in 2001, it was noted that this village
has a population of 93 people. In 2005 was reported to have grown to 104 people
and 32 houses. Until now it would have to grow and flourish again.
