LESSON PHASES:
INTRODUCTION
[The purpose of the introduction is to create interest, motivate the topic and to prepare learners
for the topic to follow and to establish the link to previous knowledge/existing knowledge. The
introduction should have some WOW factor. Possible options can include a story, newspaper
article, poem, demonstration, discussion of homework tasks, incidents from TC, Radio,
Internet etc.

DEVELOPMENT
[The purpose of this phase is to provide opportunities for the development of KSVs through
facilitation of the teaching learning experience. This phase should be structured to progress
logically through various stages or steps that include teacher and learner
activities/approaches/resources/and planned questions to be asked to achieve the subject
aims and lesson aims. The core content and concepts should be clearly covered. This section
should be at least one to one and a half pages in length, containing sufficient detail.]

CONSOLIDATION/LESSON CONCLUSION
[The purpose of this phase of the lesson is to reinforce the application of the KSVs
underpinning the lesson: how are these KSVs going to help the learners in the way they think
for example, or make decisions or approach life situations. Activities here could include for
example, a worksheet, questioning, discussion of what was learnt and the application thereof.
Discussion of homework activities can also be included. Remember a lesson conclusion is not
merely a summary of the lesson.]
