Perkins is pleased to announce the introduction of the 2500 Series ElectropaKs that have
been specifically developed to meet the demanding needs of the power generation industry
and its legislative requirements.
Non-emissions variants of the 2500 Series are available to order NOW, with emissions
compliant variants becoming available from mid October 2006.
2500 Series
The 2500 Series ElectropaK is a compact 15.2 litre inline 6-cylinder electronically controlled
diesel engine & cooling group covering the 455-550kVA (1500rpm) and 410-500kWe
(1800rpm) power range.
The 2500 Series has been developed to replace the 2806C-E16TAG1 & TAG2 models and
meets the specialised needs of the power generation industry, offering a wide variety of
configurations, which make it the ideal choice for power generation suppliers everywhere.
The 2500 Series has been developed specifically to provide a number of benefits of value to
Customers:
Clean:
The 2500 Series range satisfies increasingly stringent exhaust emission requirements around
the world and includes models that are EU 97/68/EC Stage II, EPA 40 CFR Part 89 Tier 2 /
Tier 3 and ½ TA Luft (1986) compliant.
In common with other Perkins products, the 2500 series uses Perkins Ecoplus high
performance oil and fuel filters, which provide excellent engine protection, lower running costs
from easily disposable non-metallic filter elements.
Efficient:
High power to weight ratio gives excellent power density providing increased kVA/litre while
ensuring a compact package size. The 2500 Series range includes models optimised for low
specific fuel consumption and reduced gaseous NOx emissions.
All these benefits combined make the 2500 Series a dependable and cost effective power
solution.
1500/1800rpm Switchability
Although nearly all of the 2500 Series models are switchable between 1500 and 1800rpm,
each model is optimised at either 1500rpm or 1800rpm. This optimisation is required in order
to achieve the high power density levels and also comply with the variety of increasingly
stringent legislation around the world.
Care should be taken when ordering engines to ensure that the correct model is specified.
To help to identify the most suitable model for a particular customer / territory, the standard
Perkins emissions identifiers have been adopted:
Emissions compliant ('C' and 'D') models will be certified and labeled appropriately for use in
Europe and the USA and customers will be encouraged to order and stock the correct models
from the outset. Requests for re-rating will not be granted in view of the severe complexities
and legalities involved in re-issuing engine data plates, emissions labels and test certificates.
The full range of 'A', 'C' and 'D' variants are illustrated below;
(The below engines do not comply too any Harmonized international regulated emissions
limits and are optimised for low specific fuel consumption and reduced gaseous NOx
emissions)
