PROSPECTUS
DIPLOMA AND ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

INTRODUCTION
The Karnatak University, which was established in 1950, has been offering External Courses in
various subjects during the last three decades to cater to the needs of aspiring students. It has provided a
golden access to those students who has missed the opportunity to pursue their higher education. Many
who passed out of the External mode could get better employment and promotional benefits. This has
encouraged the University to redesign the courses. Hence, the structure and design of the courses are
modified to suit the requirements of students and it was proposed to start the Distance Education
Courses scheme in place of External Courses. However, on perusal of the said proposal, H.E., the
Chancellor or Universities in Karnataka is pleased to direct, to rename External Courses as “School of
Correspondence Education” (SCE) and accordingly, the same has started functioning from the
academic year 2007-08, in the University campus. In view of this, the University has taken the decision
to strengthen its existing programmes by providing Study Materials to make courses pedagogically
sound and student friendly. This is one of the essential and compulsory condition of the Correspondence
Education Stream.

COURSE STRUCTURE :

The following are the Diploma and Advanced Diploma Courses in Foreign Languages.

DIPLOMA IN ELIGIBILITY
1) No candidate shall be admitted to the Diploma Course in these Foreign
1) FRENCH Languages unless he/she has passed the Certificate Examinationor equivalent
in respective subject of any University or Institute in India.
2) GERMAN 2) Graduates of Goethe Institute of Max-Muller Bhavan (for German) and
3) RUSSIAN Certificate Examination of Alliance Franchises (for French) or PUC IInd or
equivalent with relevant Foreign Language or B.A-III with one of the Basic
subject in relevant Foreign Languages.
ADVANCED
ELIGIBILITY
DIPLOMA IN
No candidate shall be admitted to the Advanced Diploma Course in
1) FRENCH French/German/Russian Languages unless he/she has passed Diploma
2) GERMAN Examination in the relevant Foreign Languages from any University or
Institute in India or Graduates III of Goethe Institute of Max-Muller Bhavan
3) RUSSIAN (for German) or Diploma Languages of Alliance Franchises (for French).

NOTE : The course fee is inclusive of the following;

1) Application processing fee 2) Registration fee 3) Other fees 4) Examination fee
5) Alumni Association Activities fee 6) Penal fee (if applicable) 7) Eligibility fee (as applicable)
Eligibility Fees : In addition to the above fee, the candidate from other University/Board/Institution (within
India) has to pay Rs.1100/- as eligibility Fee along with course fee. Candidates from other Country (Foreign) has
to pay Rs.2200/- along with course fee.
Mode of Remittance of Fees : Mode of payment of fees shall be through online as prescribe by the State Bank of
India vide our website: “www.kud.ac.in or kudsce.in.
After making payment on line, fee remittance receipt duly generated though on line system should be enclosed
with the admission application form.
Migration :- Candidate coming from other University/Board/Institution in India/other country, submission of
original Migration Certificate is compulsory.
Examination :- Examination will be conducted by the University in the prescribed manner and the date & place
of Examination will be intimated to the candidate well before the Examination either by post or through our
University website: “www.kud.ac.in or kudsce.in
General Instructions
1. The Registrar, Karnatak University, Dharwad reserves the right to cancel the admission when it is
detected that his/her admission is against the rules.
2. Once registered, normally no further change in the Name, Address, Subjects and Examination Centre
will be entertained.
3. Fees once paid will not be refunded or held over for subsequent examinations.
4. Candidates shall have to re-register for the course in case the syllabus is changed.
5. The University will not be responsible for loss or delay due to any reason.
6. No candidate will be permitted to appear for more than one programme at a time.
7. Self addressed (Stamped with Rs. 5/- per cover) Two Postal Covers should be enclosed.
8. Write the Name, Course, Subject Code and Title of the papers.
9. All the Original Certificate, except the Migration Certificate, will be returned to the candidate after
verification.
10. Self-attested marks cards in two sets, at the candidates risk, are to be enclosed along with the
application.
11. Aadhar Card Copy
12. The incomplete applications will be rejected without any further communication. Therefore, the
candidates are advised to fill the form carefully.
