QUIZ BEE
Guidelines and Mechanics

A. Participants:
1. The contest is open to all grades from Grade 7 to Grade 12 of Lutayan National High School.
2. Each section will only have ONE (1) participant.
3. The quiz bee is individual in nature.

B. Scope and Coverage:


1. The quiz bee shall cover general questions parts of speech, subject verb agreement, conjunctions,
kind of sentences, tenses of the verbs and literature.
2. There are four (4) rounds in each competition namely: Easy, Average, Difficult and Clincher. The
Clincher round takes place only if there is a tie.
3. The Easy Category has fifteen (15) questions worth 1 point, the average category has ten (10)
questions worth 2 points and in the difficult category has ten (10) questions worth 3 points. In the
Clincher Round, as many questions as need which is worth five (5) points.

C. Quiz Bee Proper:


1. Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the competition.
2. Each participant will be provided an answer sheet, letters from A to D.
3. All participants will answer the same set of questions by raising the letter of the correct answer.
4. The Quiz Master shall read the question only TWICE.
5. After the second (2nd) reading, the Quizmaster shall say “go”, only then the participants be allowed
to raise their answers. Automatically, the (10) second time-limit will begin with the word “go” by the
Quizmaster.
6. After the time-limit, the bell or the whistle is blown by the time-keeper. The participants must raise
their answer cards.
7. The Quizmaster shall read and verify the participants answer.
8. In the Easy round, only the top ten (10) participants will qualify to the next (Average) round.
9. At the end of Average round, only the top five (5) participants will move to the final round.

D. Declaration of Winners:
1. The participant that garnered the highest marks shall be declared as the winner.
2. In cases of ties, three (3) clincher questions will be raised to break the tie. The mechanics for the
Clincher Round will be the same as that of Round 1.
3. The participants who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the champion or the
runner-up as the case may be.
