MANAGING THE TEACHING OF ARALING PANLIPUNAN (AP)

TOWARDS BETTER APPRECIATION OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to develop better appreciation of family and

community among grade I pupils in the select Elementary School in the Division

of Tanauan City.

Specifically, this study seeks answers to the following questions:

1. How do school heads and teachers describe the instruction in Araling

Panlipunan in terms of following domains:

1.1 cognitive

1.2 affective

1.3 psychomotor

2. How are teaching approaches and strategies utilized for effective

instructional delivery?

3. How do the assessments by the two groups of respondents compare?

Are there significant differences?

4. What are the difficulties met in teaching Araling Panlipunan?

5. Based on the analysis, what AP intervention activities may be prepared?

PART I – Description of Instruction in Araling Panlipunan

A. Cognitive Domain
1. Provides objectives that develops the knowledge in Araling Panlipunan
I
2. Gives activities using manipulative realias and materials available in the
class.
3. Engages in situations which provide critical thinking of pupils.
4. Provides Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reliable and Timebound
(SMART) objectives.
5. Has clear enabling objectives appropriate to K-12 Curriculum.
6. Provides thought provoking questions that increases interests to
engage in the lesson.
7. Sets lesson objectives within the experiences and capabilities of
learners.
8. Provides appropriate intervention activities for learners at risk.
9. Align lesson objectives, teaching methods, learning activities and
instructional materials.
10. Paces lesson appropriate to the needs and difficulties of learners.

B. Affective Domain
1. Shows fairness in dealing with learners.

C. Psychomotor
1. Engages pupils in the discussion of how new concepts relate to
previously learned.
2. Encourages the pupils to communicate explanations of responses.
3. Engages the pupils in activities that ensure class participation.

1. Utilizes varied techniques and strategies suited to different kinds of
learners.
