Title : Charities can Nurture Economics

Assalamuallaikum Wr.Wb.

The honourable, The judge of English speech contest,The teachers, brother and sister, and all of the
participants of English Speech contest, good morning.

First of all. Let us thank to Allah SWT, bacause of his blessings we all can gather on this morning, sholawat
and prayer we will say to our greatest prophet Muhammad SAW , his family, his friends, and all of his
followers.
May I tell you, first of all how pleased Im to have an opportunity to stand here and deliver a speech in front
of you. My speech title is Charities can Nurture Economics.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

“Charity is for those in need.” This is general principle which enjoins us to help people in need, be they
good or bad, on the right path or not, Muslims or non-Muslims. No one should judge in these matters. The
foremost ends in charity should be God’s pleasure and our own spiritual good. The concept of charity in
Islam is thus linked with justice. It is not limited to the redressed of grievances. It implies apart from the
removal of handicaps, the recognition of the right that every human being has to attain the fullness of life.

The Qur’an states:

“And be steadfast in your prayer and pay charity; whatever good you send forth for your future, you shall
find it with Allah, for Allah is well aware of what you do” . Charity is central to a Muslim’s life.

Islam does not force anyone to give charity. This is third pillar of Islam and its reward will be given in after
world.

The following five words are the most frequently used words to describe charity in the Noble Qur’an:

1. Infaq fi Sabil Allah (spending in the path of Allah). Infaq Meaning spending benevolently

2. Ihsan Meaning the doing of good or (kindness and consideration)

3. Zakah Meaning growth or purification

4. Sadaqah Derived from the root sidq and meaning truth, and comes to signify charitable deed

5. Khayrat Meaning good deeds

Ladies & Gentlemen,

How can Charities Nurture Economics? There are 5 ways what charities are able to do to nurture
economics
Which are Equal Distribution of Wealth, Circulation of Wealth , then ,Economic Stability , . Solution for
Unemployment , Capital Formation , Protection of Needy Persons, Absolute Source of Government
income, Increase in Collective Welfare

The first one Equal Distribution of Wealth

The main problem of modern economic system is unequal distribution of wealth which is the main
cause of social and economic problem. Islamic economic system solves this problem with zakat in a good
manner. Once government implement zakat, it will automatically solve the problem of unequal distribution
of wealth because the rich people will give zakat to poor for consumption.

The first object of the distribution of wealth is that it would be the means of establishing in the world
a system of economy which is natural and practicable, and which, without using any compulsion or force,
allows every individual to function in a normal way according to his ability, his aptitude, his own choice and
liking, so that his activities may be more fruitful, healthy and useful.

My second point is Circulation of Wealth and Economic Stability

To gain economic development it is very important that any country’s capital should circulate instead of
accumulation. If capital goes towards accumulation the economic activities will become slow. Zakat is the
best tool to circulate the money in economy.

Zakat avoids interest system. When the economy is prosperous the amount of zakat increases among
poor. All these bring a balance in economic condition.

My third point are charities is the Solution for Unemployment and Protection of Needy Persons

Once Dr. Keynes said, the basic reason of unemployment is the shortage of an effective demand. It
is zakat through which unemployment decreased by increasing the level of effective demand. In Islamic
economic system unemployment allowance can be given to unemployment persons.

It is undeniable that there are different people living in a society, there are some people unable to earn and
depend on other for financial help through zakat. Such can be honorably protected with necessities of life.

My next point are charities can nurture economics by Capital Formation and Increase in Collective
Welfare.

Some people avoid using their income. Neither they take benefits of nor is any other person to do so
interest system, an attempt made to decrease their accumulation through interest. But in Islamic economic
system there is no such room for the circulation of their accumulation except Zakat that discourages the
accumulation of wealth.
Another economic advantages or benefit of Zakat is that It is the most basic source of social welfare. In
Islamic society zakat funds can be utilized in school and hospitals to help poor. This promotes collective
welfare of the society

Last but not least ,charities are Important Instrument of Fiscal Policy and Absolute Source of
Government income

Islamic state is a welfare state that has to fulfill the responsibility of the society. For the fulfillment of this
duty there should be surety of National Income.

There are three basics of government finance tax, expenditure and national loan. In Islamic economy zakat
is an important essential of government finance.

Finally, I would like to conclude that the Muslim should be keen to earn a living from halaal sources by
working with his own hands. He should be the one who gives and spends, not the one who takes and asks,
especially if he is asking for money in a kaafir state. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him) said: “The best of charity is that which leaves you still independent of means, and the upper hand (the
one that gives) is better than the lower hand (the one that receives), and start with those who are under
your care.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5040; Muslim, 1034.

Well, I guess thats all I can tell. In the end, I am asking for apologize for all my words may offended. And
with all my thanksfull I will end my speech today.

Assalamualaikum.Wr. Wb
