Dear Prospective Student:


This letter is to inform you of the eligibility requirements to receive the Duval/Nassau
County Chapter Financial Assistance $1000 Scholarship. Applications must be
postmarked by June 30, 2019, as late applications will not be reviewed.
Applicants who desire to attend Bethune-Cookman University must provide the
following documents to confirm:
 Must be a 2019 High School Graduating Senior.
 Must reside in Duval or Nassau County.
 Must have taken either the SAT or ACT with a score of at least 1100/17
respectively.
 Must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
 Must submit a copy of the Letter of Acceptance from Bethune-Cookman
University.
 Must submit a copy of the FAFSA (Financial Aid Application for Student
Assistance) letter of determination based on need.
 Must submit a letter from an organization verifying community/volunteer
service.
 Must submit unopened letter with the copy of your official transcript with
school seal.
 Must submit two (2) letters of recommendations from either of the
following: teacher, pastor, high school principal, counselor, B-CU alumnus,
community leader or your employer.
 Must submit a 2 page essay (12 pt. font) on one of the following topics:
 “Why Is Accomplishing A College Education Important to You?”
 “Why Is Bethune–Cookman University Your Educational Choice?”
