EXPERIENCE
Curriculum Developer / Rochford Scholar College Access Program January 2019 – Present

As the program expands to include grade levels up to the 12th grade, my team and I are
designing English Language Arts curriculum based on student need, state standards, and
college readiness. Through in-depth analysis of novels, memoirs and plays, students will be
exposed to diverse and rich texts from a range of cultural backgrounds while increasing
comprehension and writing skills.

Fellow / Rochford Scholar College Access Program December 2017 – Present

This program provides academic preparation courses for low-income and underrepresented
students who are less likely to attend college. I work with 22 seventh-graders and 20 sixth-
graders, bolstering their English Language Arts coursework with lessons focused on developing
literacy and writing skills. By increasing student exposure to instruction and individualized aid, I
provide opportunities for greater understanding of and engagement with content. Through our
family program, we foster a college-going culture that supports students at home.

Substitute Teacher / Redlands Unified School District October 2017 – Present

Working with students from kindergarten to twelfth grade, I am continuously improving my

confidence in front of the classroom by learning very quickly what does and does not work in
regard to student interaction and discipline. As a preferred substitute at several sites, I provide a
positive, on-task environment in which all students can learn.

Student Teacher / San Gorgonio Middle School February 2018 – June 2018

San Gorgonio is a Title I school serving a rural, low-income area. I taught 7th grade World History
to 180 students (40 of whom have IEPs), offering a fresh teaching perspective which increased
student engagement and learning. I fostered a positive learning environment focused on content
understanding and skill development, which included building rapport with students and staff.
Bilingual Language Assistant / Ministry of Education, Spain October 2016 – May 2017

The Ministry runs a Language Assistant program within Spain’s public secondary schools. I
worked with teachers providing English support and practice within the classroom, improving
English pronunciation and confidence among my students. I worked with students one-on-one,
in small groups and with the whole class, gaining varied and complex teaching experience.

International Student Tutor / Redlands Christian Schools November 2015 – May 2016

Redlands Christian Schools runs a high-quality study abroad program that brings in students
from around the world. As an international student tutor, I designed study plans for my students,
helping them prioritize their weekly tasks and long-term goals. Working on a literature portfolio
with one of my tenth-grade students resulted in an A on the project and a passing grade in the
class, which she had failed the previous semester.

VOLUNTEER
English Teacher / International House Davis 2014 – 2015

International House Davis is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides opportunities for
cross-cultural interaction and exchange. By teaching a weekly English conversation class to
international scholars and families, I provided a space in which students could improve their
English, make connections and reach their academic and professional goals.

Spanish Translator / Shifa Community Clinic 2014 – 2015

Shifa Community Clinic is a non-profit, student-run medical facility dedicated to serving the
diverse, medically uninsured population of the greater Sacramento area. I translated between
our Spanish-speaking patients and Shifa’s doctors, giving patients a safe, comfortable and well-
informed environment while providing doctors the means of communicating with patients.
