ABSTRACT
Seat belts have proved to be one of the most effective safeguards against
death and injury in a vehicle crash. Efforts to encourage seat belt use span 30
were still observed not to be buckled up. The number was considerably higher for
drivers with a high risk of crash involvement; nearly 60 percent of drivers in high-
speed fatal crashes were unrestrained despite the fact that drivers and passengers
can reduce their risk of dying in a crash nearly by half simply by buckling up.
Canada, many northern European countries, and Australia can document belt use
The seat belts play a vital role in the driver’s safety during driving. One
should buckle up the seat belt when inside or driving the car. This is because in
most of the accidents the seat belts protect the passengers and the driver by holding
them to their seats. But still in most of the countries people do not buckle up their
seat belts due to inconvenience in driving. The purpose of the project was to
promote safety belt use all the countries by gaining a better understanding of the
effectiveness and safety of the seat belts. These systems were judged as being less
effective than the 3-point safety belt and were not well liked by consumers. When
bags, automatic belts were largely eliminated from newly manufactured vehicles
This project is developed so that the seat belt must be buckled and that makes the
ignition of the car to go. The ignition of the system is locked while the seat belts
are in the ordinary conditions, and the ignition is not done in the chamber, so that
the car fails to start. If the seat belts were buckled up and started, the car starts to
run.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The working principle of the seal belt based ignition system is as follows, it
has a seat belt sensor unit which senses for the seat belt (buckled up or not). This
sensor is power by the battery which could be merely the car’s battery. The sensed
signal is sent to the control unit, to which the car’s ignition key system also gets
connected. When the seat belt is buckled up the sensor senses the signal and makes
the system loop closed and makes way for the system for the ignition. The sensor
sends the signal to the control unit which makes the loop closed, and now when the
key is turned or switched to ignition. The engine gets started and it continues to
run. The ignition does not switches to on when the seat belt is not buckled up, this
is because the sensor does not send any sensed signal to the controller and hence
Some of the advantages of the this type of the system are as follows
The engine does not start if the seat belt is not buckled up. So one can
The system gets the supply through 12v battery which can be easily
faster.
DISADVANTAGES
One can never start the engine without the seat belt buckled up.
