Generators transform mechanical energy, while the motors transform electrical energy
into mechanics by rotating an axis.
The motor can be classified into DC motor or AC motor. Transformers and converters
retain the shape of the energy but transform its characteristics.
Usually one of the electrical circuits is called excitation, because being run by an
electric current produces the necessary amperivueltas to create the flow established in
the whole of the machine.
From a mechanical viewpoint, electrical machines can be classified into rotary and
static.
The rotary machines are provided with rotating parts, like the dynamos, alternators,
motors.
In rotating machines there is a fixed part called a stator and a moving part called a
rotor. Normally the rotor rotates inside the stator.
The air gap between the two is called an air gap. Electric motors and generators are
the simplest example of a rotary machine.
