1.0 Purpose & Scope

To establish the procedure to define the methodology for the installation of

Insulation & Cladding on TES Tank at Doha Khalifa Stadium Project., strictly in
accordance project specifications.

The Method Statement has been specifically created for the supply, fabrication
and installation of Insulation & cladding on TES Tank as per the prescribed
scope of work.

2.0 Reference

This method statement is strictly in accordance with Specifications.

3.0 Responsibilities
All our field staff proposed to be deployed for the execution of this insulation &
cladding works are under our direct employment and are highly experienced in
the field, some of key technicians are with us for the past more than 20 years
executing similar and identical insulation jobs.

Supervisors & foreman shall ensure compliance of this method statement and
pass on the required instruction down the route on day to day bases towards
implementation of this method statement, project specifications, quality and
safety aspects, incase of any doubt the field staff, foreman and others will
approach the supervisor for clarifications.

All the work force such as fabricator(s), fitter(s) & insulator(s) shall possess
relevant knowledge familiar with the handling & application of these materials.

3.2 Initial Check

The Supervisor designated for this task will ensure that the tank have been
released from mechanical, painting and all other activities required to be
completed prior to installation of insulation.

To check that all surfaces to be insulated are clean, dry and free from grease,
dirt & foreign materials and the surrounding area is free of obstacles and debris
etc.

4.0 Materials

4.1 Insulation Material

4.1.1 The basic insulation material for tank bottom shall be foam glass of 100mm
thickness x 125kg/mᶟ density.

4.1.2 The insulation materials for tank shell and roof shall be polyurethane foam
slabs of single 100mm thickness with outer side foil faced having 32-35kg/mᶟ
density

4.2 Jacketing Material

4.2.1 Plan Aluminum sheet of 1.0mm thickness.

4.3 Securing Material

4.3.1 Nylon bands

4.3.2 Aluminum Rivets

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Insulation Procedure

5.1.1 Polyurethane slabs shall be installed on the tank shell and roof with
adhesive on circumferential & longitudinal joints for single application, care shall
be taken to ensure that the inner bore of slab is kept free of joint sealant and that
adhesion to the tank wall does not occur.

5.1.2 Care shall be taken to ensure that tensioning of band does not crack or
damage the insulation, Metal bands shall not be used as the same can damage
the insulation.

5.1.3 All insulation interruption(s) / termination shall have vapor stop mastic
wherever required.

5.1.4 All polyurethane joints shall be butted together shall have staggered joints
with 6 inch offset (sketch attached)

5.1.5 Alternatively Polyurethane slabs can be directly factory applied cladding, in

that event foil faced would not be required.

5.2 Jacketing Procedure

5.2.1 Tanks shell and roof shall be cladded with flat metal sheeting to confirm the
insulated diameter of tank shell with vertical joint seam and horizontal overlaps.

5.2.2 All the cladding on tanks shell and roof shall be fitted to vertical seams with
machine tensioned and shall be provided with silicon sealant to prevent ingress
of water and all horizontal joints shall have overlap of not less than 50mm and
shall also be sealed with silicon sealant.

5.2.3 All the horizontal joints shall be installed weather side down to prevent
ingress of water and shall be sealed with rivets and silicon shall be applied.

5.3 Securement Procedure

5.3.1 Ensure that reinforcement of polyurethane slabs would be fastened by

means of Nylon bands machined tensioned and locked of size 18-20 wide
spaced at 50mm from each end of slab and at intermediate intervals of not more
than 300mm distance.

5.3.2 Jacketing shall be secured circumferentially with aluminum rivets.

5.3.3 All vertical joints shall be standing seam joint sealed with silicon.
6.0 Inspection and reporting procedures

6.1 All inspection(s) shall be carried out initially by Supervisor followed with our
QC Inspector strictly according to the inspection and test plan (ITP) at all stages
of application and on completion of final inspection for the relevant completed
work and will inform main contractor’s and client’s quality department for final
acceptance.
