A
Audience Analysis
We aim to tap the youth (20 -
30 years of age) who have access to
computer based devices such as
smartphones, tablets, laptops, and
the like. They will also be required to
have access to a reliable internet
connection. Lastly the target
audience is expected to have the
mental processes equivalent to
those who have graduated from the
primary level of education.
Platform
The instructional material will be in
the form of an application. Users are
encouraged to use this through their
mobile devices, but laptops and desktop
computers will have access to this
resource. As journalism is heavily moving
into the electronic platform, the internet
and its community will be important
resources for the application itself.
Objectives
Through this application, the user should
be able to:
● Define what reliable news and fake
news is
● Identify the elements that compose
reliable and fake news
● Differentiate fake news from reliable news
● Discuss existing ways to fight against the
proliferation of fake news
● Propose new ways or methods to fight against the
proliferation of fake news

Teaching the
Concept
- The application will present a
credible news article to the user
while highlighting the important
elements of such for the user to
observe.

- The application will likewise present a fake news article to

the user while also highlighting the important elements of
such for the user to observe.
- The user will then be tasked to differentiate the two types
of articles based on the highlighted elements.
- The application will also provide further discussion on
differentiating the two including.
Testing the user
Test the user’s ability to differentiate
between credible and fake news by
discerning its credibility/reliability
through identifying among its elements
which makes it fake news.
A multiple choice question will be asked
after every news article to which the
user should decide if a certain
elements makes it fake news.
Community Building
- Once a user is deemed
proficient, the user will be
granted access to a moderated
platform (forum) for them to
interact with other proficient
users.
- News articles will be periodically presented to all
proficient users to review. They will also be able to
discuss the credibility of the article among
themselves.
- To maintain the reliability of the forum, other users
will be able to flag or report certain users who act
contrary to the objectives of the application.
