o Last paper and pencil test –July 2008, computer-based testing started January 2009
o Validated competency testing in 6 disciplines with multiple grade levels: Collection Systems
Maintenance, Laboratory Analyst, Environmental Compliance Inspector, Plant Maintenance,
Industrial Waste Treatment Plant Operator, Biosolids Land Application Management
o Voluntary program, required by many employers for hiring, promotion
o 5,250 certificate-holders. Over 2,000 test applicants annually.
o Certification offered in California and for MAs in Michigan, Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri

o 5 conferences (Annual Conference, Northern Regional Training, Northern Safety, P3S (Pollution
Prevention, Pre-Treatment & Stormwater) Tri-State Seminar) and 6 specialty topics annually
o Over 15 SSO-WDR (Sanitary Sewer Overflow-Waste Discharge Requirement) workshops held in
2008-2009
o Trains over 6,500 people annually and offer over 150 contact hours per year, plus local section
training
