Observation Feedback
Strengths:

You obviously put a lot of effort into designing this assignment; the instructions are very clear and leave
no doubt about what the expectations are. Cyber-bullying prevention is one of the most important ideas
a computer teacher can convey, and setting them up with the facts before the coding piece is
responsible teaching--thank you for that! I love that you require that hands are covered with
handkerchiefs during keyboarding; this certainly ensures that they learn the proper hand positioning for
an essential skill. Additionally, you obviously care about your students in the way you speak to them
and try to help them. This, along with the text- and image-rich classroom environment sets up a strong
culture of learning.

Suggestions:
There were a few areas that I think can be improved upon with a couple of small shifts. If I am not
mistaken, homeroom starts at 7:52, and class should begin by 8:00. Up until 8:08, you repeated a few
times that it was still homeroom time and that you needed to take attendance. I know when students are
asking you for help, that it is difficult to say "wait," so you went ahead and helped them. You can keep
doing this if you assign a student to take attendance on a clipboard each morning (and you enter in
Genesis). This will ensure that you can begin instruction or activity by 8:00. Instruction on the
components of a table was given until 8:24, but it seemed to be unnecessary since most of the students
had completed setting up their table by the beginning of class (and many were off-task during
instruction--but they might have already been done and did not need the instruction). This left only 15
minutes for students to work on finding prevention tips for cyber-bullying. For sixth graders and below,
you might consider providing more specific resources (such as the Brain Pop video you did give them)
other than "use Google for tips" - this will help prevent them from simply asking other groups "what they
got" if they can more easily find the information themselves. Two other age-appropriate information
sites should suffice. One last thing... please consider adding challenge activities for each assignment
(or a specific list of challenging sites they are allowed to visit), so that the students who do finish early
have more to do than play games.

It is not easy to plan something different for each grade, and we appreciate how hard you work in the
classroom, at lunch, and with your CER classes. Thank you, Grace!
