This document outlines a student project to design an underground cable fault distance locator. It proposes developing a device that can locate faults in underground cables without digging up and inspecting the entire length of cable. The device aims to be user-friendly, cost-effective, and help reduce inconveniences of current cable fault location methods. It will include components like a block diagram and flow chart and aims to solve issues with existing processes of locating cable faults.

Result / Conclusion Current scenario of digging along the cable laid and then pulling the cable out and checking whether the fault exists in the cables is a tedious work. This is not only is wastage of manpower and money for the companies, but this also causes a lot of inconvenience to the normal public. We believe that our cable fault detector will solve this issue to a great extent and will be really helpful for such application. The device that we will design is very much user-friendly and can be easily operated. Also, this is cost effective. 5. References
