Standard 5

Component: 5.e
Select or create authentic, formal
assessments that measure student
attainment of short-and long term
objectives.

Artifact: Statistics Presentation

Date: Spring 2018

Reflection:
My capability to select and create formal assessments of student
learning was assessed in PED 434 Statistics and Assessment in
Physical Education. During this class I created underhand rolling
and bowling lesson where I was able to assess my students before
and after learning the skill.

My Statistics Presentation relates to component 5.a because in this

presentation you can see the psychomotor and cognitive
assessments I created and the results that were found. Formal
assessments were made for example I handed out exit slips to test
knowledge of cues and strategy. I also assessed students with
teacher observation while using a rubric to assess technique.

Creating assessments is important for physical educators because it

is the best way to see student learning. It is a great tactic to assess
your own teaching as well as seeing if the students are performing
at their best. Assessments are also a great way to keep track of
students on pace for a long term objective and goals.

Cognitive Assessment (Pre-Test)

The Assessment was as follows

1) Name three of the four cues explained for underhand rolling.

2) Which foot is supposed to be forward when rolling?

3) How many pins did you and your partner knock down?
Cognitive Statistics and Results (Pre-Test

- Our expectations
were not met
since only 36% of
the students
remembered the
cues
Cognitive Statistics and Results (Pre-Test
Question 2)
- Knowledge of which
foot to step with was
present as you can
see.
Cognitive Statistics and Results (Pre-Test
Question 3)
- Average pins knocked down was
5.9 pins
- A little more than expected
- Students had similar results
Cognitive Assessment (Post-Test)
Cognitive Statistics and Results (Post-Test
Question 1)

couldn't remember
correct cues
