Perimeter: It is the distance covered along the boundary forming a closed figure.
a. Perimeter of rectangle = 2 × (𝑙 + 𝑏)
b. Perimeter of square = 4 × length of a sides.
c. Perimeter of equilateral triangle = 3 × length of a side.
Area: The amount of surface enclosed by a closed figure is called its area.
a. Area of a rectangle = length × breath.
b. Area of a square = side × side.
c. Area of circle = 𝜋𝑟 2

e. Area of trapezium = half of the sum of the lengths of parallel side ×

perpendicular distance between them.
f. Area of rhombus = half the product of its diagonals.
Circumference: The distance around a circular region is known as its circumference.
a. Circumferences of a circle = 𝜋𝑑.
Surface area: The surface area of a solid is the sum of the areas of its faces.
a. Surface area of cuboid = 2 (𝑙𝑏 + 𝑏ℎ + ℎ𝑙)
b. Surface area of cube = 6 × 𝑙 2
c. Surface area of cylinder = 2 𝜋𝑟 (𝑟 + ℎ)
Volume: The amount of region occupied by a solid is called its volume.
a. Volume of cuboid = 𝑙 × 𝑏 × ℎ
b. Volume of cube = 𝑙 3
c. Volume of cylinder = 𝜋𝑟 2 ℎ
Capacity: It refers to the quantity that a container holds.
*measured in terms of litres.
The relation between litre and centimetre square is
a. 1 𝑚𝑙 = 1 𝑐𝑚3
b. 1 𝑙 = 1000 𝑐𝑚3
c. 1 𝑚3 = 1000000 𝑐𝑚3 = 1000 𝑙
