These words are called cognates and it basically refers to any two words that look and 
mean the same but they are in different languages. Here are some examples…

Cognates are often inherited from a shared parent language, but they may also involve 
borrowings from some other language. 

Cognates may have evolved similar, different or even opposite meanings, but in most cases 
there are some similar sounds or letters in the words. Some words sound similar, but don't 
come from the same root; we will talk about these later on.

We can see that the highlighted words or phrases are easier to understand or translate to 
English because they have the same roots that their correspondent English word has.

making a list we are able to better understand and memorize these words

the text is, after we can polish it by adding our own opinion and expanding our ideas.

It really is tricky to know which cognates are false or not, but first what are false cognates?

We have to be careful with these false cognates because we can be saying things we 
probably do not mean. Imagine a guy saying “I'm pregnant”, awkward right? That is why its 
important to be aware of these false cognates
