considered a major writer of political philosophy.
James managed to end the Anglo – Spanish War. This war was multiple battles between the two countries
which were started due to arguments of religion between Philip II of Spain and Elizabeth I of England. Once
the war was ended, James strived to make sure his kingdom was peaceful.

James had good relationships with his male courtiers and his wife Anne of Denmark. However, James did not know his
parents as his father, Lord Darnley was murdered in 1567 and his mother, Mary Queen of Scots was forced to flee when
she married the suspected murderer of Lord Darnley, James Hepburn (Fourth Earl of Bothwell).
